Benchmarks (groan!)

Does anyone know of any good benchmarking sites that will give me some
idea of how well my system is handling D3?
I'm averaging 38fps during normal gameplay, with shadows off, turning
shadows on knocks 10-15fps off of that. Strafing has a noticable jerky
effect, even with v-sync turned on.

A64 3200
1G Corsair XMS
9800 pro 256bit @ AGP 8x
Abit AV8
XP Pro (no junk running in the background!)

TIA

Download 3DMark2003 from Futuremark.com (register a free account so you
can UL results and browse later), run it, then upload your results to
their O.nline R.esult B.rowser (automatically connects and uploads), you
should be able to compare favorably to quite a few systems with 9800 Pro
cards. Sounds like you have a decent rig. Your video card will be your
bottleneck. Especially for Doom3. As great a card as the 9800 Pro is,
the games have already run right by it. I have one sitting in a box
with a couple dozen 'older' cards now.

How do I benchmark Doom 3?
http://ucguides.savagehelp.com/Doom3/FAQ_Benchmark.htm
How do I access the console?
http://ucguides.savagehelp.com/Doom3/FAQ_Console.htm

You may want to run /timedemo demo1 a couple of times and take an average.

All benchmark or FPS numbers are for the most part meaningless unless
you tell us what resolution you're running at. If you're getting 38 fps
and you're running the game at 1280x1024, that sounds about right for
your system
With a similar setup (except and Athlon XP for me instead of an Athlon
64) and running at 1024x768, I used to get around 46 fps with my 9800 Pro.

Cheers McG, will give that a try.
Lack of forward planning shoots me in the foot - got the 9800 whilst
playing HL2, and then decided to upgrade the rest of my system *post*
HL2. So I'm stuck with agp, itching for faster graphics and looking at
making a fairly hefty loss on selling the 9800.
Got my eye on the ATI X800 XT at the moment......

Cya in the next HL2 'bash'!

I was able to play Doom 3 on high at 800x600 with a 9600XT and then
1024x768 on a 9800 Pro. P4 3Ghz, 1Gb PC3200, 800FSB, XP Pro.

The doom3 timedemo that comes built in gave me 42fps (or 47 - can't
remmber which) (you have to run it twice - but you bring the console up
and then type timedemo demo1 - make sure vsync is off)
