I am using laptop with gtx 1070 that has mini displayport. (Asus Rog GL502vs) and Benq XL2411P 1080p 144hz monitor. When they are connected via mini displayport I cannot change resolution in nvidia control panel to 144hz or in windows. Each time the monitor will go black for 10 seconds then come back and the option will not have saved to 144hz it will go back to 60hz. Any ideas? Defeats the purpose of getting this monitor tbh. 🙁

Yeah, size doesn't matter. What cable did you get? Displayport cables are generally reliable but there are badd eggs out there and reduced bandwidth cables.

Seeing as you see the option there for 144hz means it has detected it being capable. So it's either the cable or multi screen setting. Are you setting the monitor as the only screen before changing Hz?

As I am in the Philippines, my options for cables are limited. I purchased this one here which, for all intents and purposes, seemed to be favorable. The cable did not look damaged and seemed brand new with nice packaging. With other people reviewing they were getting 144hz with the cable, I wasn't witch hunting the cable just yet - thinking it may be more software related or settings related.

Here are the windows settings I am using: https://gyazo.com/264cbbd7c87c028477fb4e94ffb45ab0

And of course, with these settings my laptop is displaying a blank screen and my monitor is on.

For what it's worth I noticed this: https://gyazo.com/4da8fb224e18499c02b1e08bcc5df683 When I click apply the screen goes black 10 seconds. Then comes back and Apply is not greyed out meaning it never applied. The same behavior happens directly from the Nvidia settings here: https://gyazo.com/212d78a9a09966daddde517bf7abf4fa

There's a timer window that shows if you can see this image to press enter to accept, this lasts for 10 or so seconds and if not applied it will revert. Obviously you don't want to do hit enter while in a blank state otherwise itll stay like that until you disconnect the displayport (hopefully).

Only other thing that comes to mind is check input signal on the monitor is set to DP in case it's not auto switching.

I thought of that as well, I even tried to hit enter and nothing happened actually. The monitor is actually working now with the DP cable. It is what I am using to type this message, it is just when I try to apply the 144hz setting up from 60hz it goes black and reverts to 60. :/

I found another local solution that can deliver in 48 hours for a fair price, so I'll take my chances with that. If it doesn't work I can order an Accell cable 2 weeks shipping for $40 US. Hoping the other solution will work. Also I found that my monitor had a Displayport cable in the box but its DP to DP and I need Mini DP to DP.
