Hi

I recently found I have bent CPU socket pins on my ASUS board. I tried to boot up with it and of course no success.

After reading up, I figured I would have to get a new motherboard anyway so I tried to straighten out the pins (quite a few were bent, probably at least 10 as well as a couple missing). After this to my surprise everything actually booted up properly. Now I haven't actually ran any benchmarks prior to this event so I have nothing to compare to if I run some tests now.

So does having bent/missing socket pins affect performance of the CPU or will it only affect if it can boot or not?

Thanks

You should be fine running the CPU even if the last mobo had bent pins. As long as it is running fine and not heating up to much you should be fine. It's 50/50 because for some people it works, and for others it doesn't, it seems that yours is fine.
Is this true? Reading similar problems I have not found a confirmed answer, 50% will say it is fine while 50% will say it is not.

If this is true, will it cause any damage to my processor if I continue to use it while I wait for a replacement motherboard?
