Bent pin on cpu

So I was disassembling a computer. I undid the thing holding the fan to the cpu. The cpu was stuck to the fan though. So when I removed the fan the CPU came right with it and I never had to undo the lever. I am assuming this is what caused the one bent pin.

In any event I bent the pin back to its original shape and got it unstuck from the cooler. Should the cpu run the same now that its pin was bent back correctly or will it be slower?

It should be fine. The only way to tell for sure is if you test it.

Actually a bent pin can seriously screw up a CPU I doubt he'll be ''just fine'' A single bent pin can render the CPU useless, it can be fixed but be gentle, Remember the pins are very fragile.

The pins are very brittle. One slight bend is all you get. If you straightened it properly it should be OK but there's only one test.

Well the video link is blocked at my work, but I understand it can screw up a CPU. My point was, there's no harm in trying to test it. Any damage that could be done already has been done. I've had an occasion where I had to bend 3 pins on an FX 8320 back into place due to poor packaging and shipping, and PC booted up fine. Typically, unless you break the pin in the process of the bend, you should be fine, as the contact remains.

If you bent it back it will be fine. All it does is conduct a charge, and if the metal is there, it will conduct.

If the pin isn't bent back properly there could be micro cracks internally where the pin attaches to the substrate. There's no telling what that might cause but you're right about the harm already being done if any.

A micro-crack will not break the conductivity, it may weaken the metal, but unless you strain it any more it will be fine.

A microcrack can affect the resistance and therefore the conductivity.
