Got a new motherboard in yesterday and I was having trouble getting the front I/O USB 3 cable in as the location on the board was next to the thick power cables and there was only a small hole in the case.
After a little trouble I decided to try from another angle and have a look at the port. One of the pins were bent, I managed to bend it back in place so that I could plug in the cord..
My problem now is that, not too often, windows will tell me that I have plugged in my external drive again.

Are there any problems that could occur from this? Its a little bit of a pain to pull apart my PC again and I can live without the front USB 3 ports as I have plenty on the back from the motherboard. I just want to know if there would be any repercussions. Thx

Solution
Would be annoying, though I could just use the back ports right?
Sadly there's only 1 header, unless I am mistaken. Motherboard: ROG STRIX B450-F Gaming

Sure you can plug the drive into the back. Yes, just one USB 3.1 header and two USB 2.0. You can fiddle with the pin at some point. See if it needs to be straightened a little more.

Well, it can be a pain if the drive disconnects in the middle of a file transfer. Also those messages get really annoying after a while. Are there any other headers you can utilize?

Yeah I will do that at some point probably.
So I suppose it wouldn't cause any damage or other problems for my computer between now and when I am able to take a look?
