Well since I'm new to building PC's, I got a case that looked nice but its seem quite poor for cooling. I got this http://www.cooltek.de/en/cubes/coolcube/2/coolcube and wanted to add an CM Evo 212 but that's 120mm and I only have space for an 80mm cooler.

I have a Asus Maximus VI Impact (Mini ITX) motherboard with HyperX FURY Series 8GB (2x 4GB) ram which I'm assuming is low profile? And a Be Quiet Semi Modular 430 ATX PSU.

I would really appreciate the best 80mm cooler, maximum price £35 as it is a budget PC but lower is fine

I've looked at that and my Pallas. The photos seem to show that the radiator is slightly smaller. The end of the fins lines up with the inside of the fan frame on my cooler on the sides, and the distance between the contact block and the radiator is larger on that cooler; it sits higher and has that small wire brace to support the radiator from the block. I would estimate 1cm less clearance on the Pallas.

Ganons. If you can give me dimensions and location of the sound card, I can dodge something up from cardboard for my Z97e and then fit the Pallas and take a pic.

No. It is an axp 200. The metal brace is different on the 100.

and you can see that the fan is bigger with more blades.

Looks like the axp 200 will fit.

Yep youre right not gonna fit and Ive seen mix reviews about axp 200 and could have orientation problems due to case space. Thinking of going with the zalman cnps 8900. Need to place an order tonight

^ the main gripe with that zalman (bearing in mind I've used it) is the non standard fan.

Mine went bad after 4 months - ebuyer refused to replace ,I had to RMA with zalman Europe - it took over 7 weeks at a cost of £15 or so to get a replacement.

For this reason I'd never use one again - a one off maybe but enough to put me off personally.

I would honestly stick with either the axp 100 or the standard scythe shuriken.
Scythe Shuriken SCSK-1100 Processor Cooler https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001R2KSZW/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_qw04vbF14R3GR

I ran a 8320 on the shuriken & it did a decent job at stock speeds - its probably on a par or slightly better than the thermal take.

I actually strapped a 120mm ac f12 to it with steel tensile ties & had the 8320 up to 4.2ghz just for a mess around.

Scratch the scythe mate - the deepcool Gabriel has just come back in stock at amazon.
DEEPCOOL Gabriel CPU Cooler 4 copper heatpipes 120mm PWM cooling fan support all mainstream Mini ITX built processors including Intel LGA1150/1155/1156 and AMD FM2/FM1/AM3+/AM3/AM2+/AM2 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00LSRXVA0/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_cH04vb1ZRD82F

That would always have been my second choice were the Pallas unsuitable - I've never mentioned it before simply because its always been like rocking horse sh1t to get hold of in the UK.

Its a damn good cooler ,should 100% fit a-ok, & takes a standard 120mm fan.

I had a look at this before but the zalman seems to be better http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/low-profile-heat-sink-mini-itx,3639-19.html

For the reason's above I'd pick the Gabriel over it mate still - 2-3c is nothing . the Gabriel will last forever - worst case scenario 2 years down the line is a £5-6 fan replacement.
The zalman you'll be replacing the whole cooler like I had to.

In all honesty I think your case layout is still going to create a problem - there is quite literally no airflow at all :-/

Looking back didn't you post a thread a while ago asking about 40mm case fans??

This seems to be quite good also? http://www.modders-inc.com/noctua-nh-l9x65rev/4/

Yea I made a bad move with the case, well it was my bros fault lol since he liked the small factor. Since this is the 1st time I built a PC, I never thought about after market coolers, airflow, etc but was learning as I was buying each part reading here and there. If I were to buy another case, do you think the Thermaltake Core V1 would be good? It should be good enough to fit Evo 212 right?

edit: that Phanteks PH-TC12LS_BK you mentioned before is there also, isnt that better than the Gabriel?

It would appear so yes mate

Regarding cases the only 2 offhand that will take big tower coolers are the bitfenix prodigy & the antec isk600 .
These are a better design layout IMO - PSU & hard drives in the bottom ,motherboard mounted in the top section horizontally - thee is much more component room this way.

Built with the antec - still hard work though - you're brave doing an mitx as a first build mate - respect for that.

I teach all my students by starting off with mITX. It's tough, but it teaches very good habits.

Here's the builds I did last year, two of them went in Thermaltake Core V1s. It's a VERY good case to build in. The stock 200mm fan is great and you can put a couple of 80mms on the back, and with the movable panels can configure things well. The horizontal motherboard means that the motherboard does not have to worry about the torque of some honking CPU cooler. Have a look at these (the last build you have already seen)

the core v1 does indeed look a very good case - it will however only fit a 140mm tower - which means a smallish 92mm model.

it may be good practice to teach an mitx build primarily ,if you can build an mitx you can build pretty much anything BUT when it comes to performance builds I do stick to matx as an absolute minimum nowdays - there are matx cubes about now with incredibly close dimensions to some of the bigger mitx cases (less than 300mm square anyway)

Saying all this I dont think the evo is needed with a pentium even overclocked - if the phanteks can manage a 4770k at 43c over ambient its going to handle a pentium fairly easily.

Yes. Our performance build goes in the Thermaltake Core V21, a similar, but bigger case that will take nearly anything.

Thermaltake Core V1, 4690K at 4.6Ghz, 2400Mhz memory, ASRock Z97e ITX/ac, GTX 970, and a good PSU is an excellent performance system. The Pallas will fit, but only in one orientation.

in your case definitely to the mesh mate,if you had the fan to the inside the fan would be literally an inch from your cpu cooler & fighting it for airflow.

No. To fit the Pallas on a motherboard where I could add and subtract memory without having to remove the cooler all the time, I changed to an mATX motherboard and a V21 case.

The Pallas will fit in the V1 or V21 on the ASRock Z97 mITX, in exactly one orientation, S. To access or change meory, you will need to remove the cooler (and have 'short' memory or removable heatsinks (like Trident X) :)
