@ 1920x1200 It's a hair under 10k I think it's 97xx (I'll get an exact number when I get home)
@ 1280x1024 It's 11399.

Just got home from school, looks like my score @1920x1200 with speeds of 710/1775/995 is 9885. I actually broke 10k(10099) when I upped the voltage to 1.22Idle and hit 750/1915/995 but the heat output and next to unoticable gain wasnt worth it so I back the voltage down to 1.1V Idle.

I got a few questions:

When people are overclocking are they linking the sliders in rivatuner? I have mine linked right now.

Has anyone done the bios update? I dont know how old it is or where to get it but heard it helps fan speed control. Is there anything else it helps beside fan speed control? Where can I find support for this?

After some further testing I actually went back to stock voltage and stuck with my 700/linked/990 setting. So is all the hype about the 8800GT's memory interface failing if clocked to 1Ghz or above a hoax or real? I can get my memory stable to 1040 and it did provide a very very nice real world gain in FPS aka 3FPS, but hey for zero effort 3 FPS can go a long way.

I'm kind of bummed! My best overclock for 2 minutes when stressing under ATI tool was 715/990/1781. I was hoping for a lot more. Anyone else this low?

Anything more than that I would start having errors at around 30 seconds.

I'm currently unlinked with a eVGA 8800GT 512MB @

732/1590/1030 :bounce:

I can run ATITool for ~2 minutes without artifacts. Stock fan and heatsink, fan speed @ 65% temps never go above 65C.

I'll try 3DMark06 tomorrow.

What's a little artifact. If I can go about 30 seconds without an error is that ok? I'm thinking you might be right because the errors are just little dots here and there... it's not like the whole thing glitches.

Let's see...On mine the instant I start it it has errors. As long as the yellow dots doesn't fill up the whole screen real quick like, it seems to be fine for most games.

The vidcard OC's guide's example of artifact in ATI tools is fine. I have a lot more than that, and I don't see any artifacts in any of my games.

Cool... I'm real solid (like 5 minutes) at 715/995 linked. I'm happy with that. I want to try to 3dmark06 with a little higher but will unlink the shader to do so. What are people's highest clocks that will pass 3dmark06?

i cant get my mem stable any higher than 985, if i go higher i get crashes/ freezes in games. I highly doubt that going past 1000 will kill ur memory that dosnt make much sense. Just make sure u have good cooling.

Correction....sorry. I don't run it that high during gaming, I think I run at 955 for gaming. Just to run 3DMark06. And cooling is not the limiting factor with my card.

I had an overclock of 715/995 for the longest time and BF2 recently started crashing. I reduced settings and problem with it crashing went away. These cards are picky!

Perhaps your card was falling into the memory interface issue with such a high memory OC? Mr JohnnyGuru mentioned that it should be back down to 1950 tops.

I got a Zotac 8800 gt , Stock:660/1603/900 , now OC'd to:725/1757/950 , Cooling it down with a AC accelro S2 , with a 120 blowing cool air on it , Temps are 45 idle 55 load.

Plan to go higher once i get time.

I wish I could get more info on the 1000mhz limit on the gpu memory speed. From all that I read the first batch of 8800gt's were all made by one manufacturer and then clock modified by the individual vendors. I mean, I remember reading that they took a bunch of these cards and removed the vendor stickers and they all looked the same underneath. I bought the XFX 8800gt extreme (640/1900/1650) stock only because I could not get the EVGA 8800T SSC because it was always backordered and I NEEDED to get my hands on one of these. The evga model is stock (700, 2000/1750).

So of course I get the XFX card and like everyone else it is running hot. I dl rivatuner and change the thermal fan settings (low level fan control - I like this better because it ramps up when the temp rises instead of just changing the fan speed at certain temp intervals) to run at 100% at 70^c (I do not have an after market cooler) and the card is pretty darn cool. I have it in a computer armiour so it gets a bit warmer and it idles at 51^c and full load 70^c.

When I OC to EVGA SCC levels (700/2000/1750) it idles at 51^c and full load 74^c.

I have had this card Since November 1 and the card is still rock stable. BTW I have a 2x lifetime warrenty that covers oc'ing.

So if you guys don't mind show proof to this no overclocking the memory to 1000 or beyond.

Thanks.

@ chiptouz.... I have after market coolers... and let me tell you... from an overclocking perspective they don't make a dang difference. They sure do lower the temps but my GPU is not temp limited from what I can see. I can manage to overclock my memory to 2100 or 1050 without a single error. That's not the problem with my overclock. I run into the most problems with the shader/core but more often than not with the shader. I for the most part am stable at 715/1725/1050 (however I only ran the memory up to show you that it's perfectly stable) but usually keep memory at 1000 with ATI tools for a minute. However not all the time. Sometimes It will fail at those clock speeds with errors. But for the most part it's stable. At 700mhz core with shaders linked it's perfectly stable though.
I think you have a good overclock. Stick with 700/2000/750. It's stable for me and I've never had game crashes (except in BF2 which is particularly picky with overclocks).
I dont know how some get 740 core to pass 3dmark of these original 8800GT's. I guess they gave the GTS more voltage to get the higher core clocks. I am half way tempted to volt mod this sucker to see how high I can get the core/shader since I spent 100 smackers on coolers.

Here is a pic of my overclock (no benches though) and some temps. Notice gpuz has much different temps than cpuz. I dont know which one to trust. Maybe they are different sensors.
