I just compare all AMD Processors and FX 8350 is d best.
I want to do gaming on my PC. So is it best choice? 8 cores for gaming?
Or quad or hexa core is good choice for just gaming?
And hey I can afford it, no money problem.

Solution
Many games don't utilize more than 2 cores, a few will use 4. The 8 cores on the AMD cpu goes to waste in gaming. Now for hardcore movie editing, etc. the 8 Cores will dominate the i5, but then the i7 steps in however at a much higher price.

The 3570k per core performance handily beats the 8350. Multithreaded apps, (as previously stated) such as high end video software favors having more cores.

EDIT: Since you don't want to overclock, the 3570k and 3570 are identical, just the "k" version is overclockable. In that case, the i5 wins at base clocks if I'm not mistaken.

Burn? lol

You make some silly comment about power draw...
They can be compared because they are equal/similar in price. And yes you get the better newer tech with the intel.

You DO realize that "entry based server processor" is superior to the 8350 in both gaming and productivity?

The xeon's performance is guaranteed.

Takes over a 5ghz overclock on that 8350 to even be in the same league, most people won't get that level of OC.

The OP asked if it was the best choice for gaming, for the money it isn't simple as.

I would be glad if people gave me all possible choices, you seem to be the "fanboy" trying to hide the best option.

and you still missed my point, please go re-read the title of this thread! "The OP asked if it was the best choice for gaming, for the money it isn't simple as." no he didn't he asked about AMD for gaming not Intel. so please go crawl back into your virtual cores and leave the real cores alone!

AMD trump Intel in more real world applications, sure your Intel looks good on paper, but say for someone who is streaming gaming, or video editing, i wouldn't advise them on intel, AMD excels in these! or what you want him to spend $100+ more to see maybe 5 to 10 fps increase past 100fps! the real cores on the AMD make it more flexible and for alot older tech it keeps up with the latest and greatest!

Since when did Xeons in a comparable price bracket beat its gaming counterpart in gaming? I have a buddy who runs dual Quad Core Xeons (Can't remember model) from a server and I still get equal performance or greater in gaming and I am running an i5 @ 4.2

My roommate has an 8350 and the same GPU and he edges me out in several games without any overclock.

Now think about that, a overclocked i5 matches the stock xeon, you need overclocking cpu + mobo + proper cpu cooler.

All you need for the xeon is a h97 mobo + the cpu. Does it make sense to you now? Cheaper no overclocking and equal performance. Spend the money saved on a better gpu.

A xeon 1230V3 is basically a i7 4770 without the built in gpu for i5 money!

Check game benchmarks, takes over 5ghz overclock on the 8350 to even out with the xeon.

Ask around I believe there was a poster here that switched from a highly overclocked 8350 to that xeon.

The 1230v3 is a i7 4770 without built in gpu, under no work load is the 8350 winning.

4 cores + hyper threading.

i have the 3570K & the FX8350. tested both with a 4GB Geforce 770 & with a 2GB Radeon 7870. all 4 times using same 8GB DDR3 2400 & same Samsung EVO SSD.
with both GPUs any games from around 2012 and down had 10+ fps with the 3570K. Tombraider, Hitman: Absolution, Watch Dogs, Witcher 2, Crysis 3 all had 5-15 fps higher with the FX8350 most of the time.

can find the FX8350 for $179.99

Fx8350 is great choice and those 8 core will come in handy. Yes very few apps use more than 4 cores at the moment but there are more and more new apps coming out that need more than 4...
I have FX8120 clocked at 4.5Ghz and at this point at benchmarks is qual to 3770K. I have no problems having more than 1 game runing at ultra at the same time, not mentioning the background apps...

+1

TI'm not Intel Fan boy, but to all those saying the 8350 beats the i5 in multi tasking, well how do I put this in the nicest way possible? You're Wrong

http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2013/11/14/intel-core-i3-4130-haswell-review/3

Using the Application Handbrake, the 8350 is ripped apart by the i5 let alone the i7. Obviously this would differ depending on what Application you use, but that's gives us an idea that AMD aren't made out to be what they are, just because it has 8 cores doesn't mean it'll be good at Multi Tasking,. even the i3 4130 gives the 8350 a run for it's money @ £40+ cheaper.

And this Article shows: http://www.hardcoreware.net/intel-core-i3-4340-review/3/

The i3 even beats out the 8350 most of the time at gaming (even on a game like BF4 which uses all 8 cores on the 8350), and there's not much difference between the i3 4340 and i3 4130.

I personally used to praise AMD for their prices, but when you get past pub talk, and people talking rubbish, and actually look at hard facts,

AMD Sucks.
