Hello All, I have recently done up a retro gaming build and want to get an antivirus for XP, but I either don't know what to go with or how to get it to work.

I would like to use MSE but I have tried to get it to work on XP many times but to no avail, I could try to see if hooking it up to ethernet will get it to work but I don't think it will. Any workarounds?

Other than that I would go with AVG or Avast but I don't know which one is better. Any preferences?

Honestly I wouldn't worry about installing anti-virus software on it for the following reasons:
  • Windows XP computers shouldn't be connected to the internet (or the local network)
  • A lot of the malware aimed at XP era computers were in the form of trojan horses and spyware. It wouldn't matter if they run if you keep them off a network and you shouldn't have anything important on the computer anyway.
  • You can always use another computer to scan the files going to the XP computer, and it'll be much better at it
