Hey guys i just have a quick question on which router i should buy. I just bought a laptop so i don't have much to spend on a expensive wireless router but newegg has two that are for the same price one being a Good brand (from what i've been told) and the other i don't know much about.

Now the obvious question is: Which router should i choose?

or..

I simply would like to be able to take my computer around my house (fairly big house) or possibly outside and be able to watch streaming videos, music, etc. without too much connectivity hassle. Thanks Guys.

Well, here is where you are at: with a cheapo router, you will likely have many hassles for speed and range. The best alternative I know of is to find a linksys WRT54g not the G2 and get the DDWRT third party firmware installed on it.

this is much better of a router, especially when flashed with DDWRT:

Without the DDWRT, all three of these are mediocre. The DDWRT lets you run the the transmit power much higher than stock, so you get tons more range out of it.

Linksys is great for budgets, I would choose Dlink if I was getting a more expensive router.
