[SOLVED] Best Cooler for 2700X?

Hi all,

I would like to able to overclock my R7 2700X beyond the maximum of 4.0Ghz that I'm getting with the Wraith Prism (I live in a very hot country).

I use a Fractal Design Meshify C case so I'm guessing and Air Cooler will be more suited?

What do you recommend?

P.S: My RAM is G.Skill Trident Z RGB for those who want to check clearance.

First of all it may not go beyond 4Ghz, silicon lottery etc, even so you won't get far, maybe 4.2/3 which isn't worth the 50-150 you'll be spending.

You could go AIO but more parts to fail, potentially louder and not much better than a dual tower. Would recommend the be quiet Dark rock, Slim model if you have tall RAM, pro if you can fit it. Noctua do a few good coolers too.
You could easily go for an AIO, like the one made by Fractal-Design, the Celsius S24 or larger and call it an all Fractal affair.

FYI, this is what I'm seeing your sig space;
Ryzen 7 2700X
BeQuiet! Dark Rock Pro 4
ROG Strix B450-F Gaming
MSI GTX 1060 6GB OCV1
G.Skill Trident Z RGB 2x8GB 3200Mhz
ADATA SX8200 Pro 480GB ◾ Gloway Stryker 1TB ◾ Seagate Barracuda 2TB
NZXT AER 140mm & Hue+ ◾ Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM
Seasonic S12II 620 Evo
Fractal Design Meshify C Dark TG

Why do you need another cooler if you already own a Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4.

If the specs are for your build and the thread is for another build, then pass on a budget, preferred site for purchase and your location.

Oops, I initially added that on my signature as I wanted to purchase that one. But then I figured, maybe there's a more suited choice out there and ask what you guys thought of it?

Currently using the stock cooler Wraith Prism. It's quite loud.

Watch the language
Lol that WILL be loud, look at the be quiet dark rock slim? I've OC'd my 2600 with too much voltage (like 1.475V) and it runs around 85 when stressed and under that normally. Isn't too pricey, looks good and is quiet.

That is quite high! Is it okay to higher the voltages as long as temps are satisfactory? I thought it wasn't recommended to volt past 1.4?

And yes that stock cooler is loud as Removed. Even when I open Chrome I hear it for a few seconds. Though temps are acceptable, I cannot OC past 4.0Ghz without crashing.

The limit is like 1.5 and you shouldn't push past 1.425 but I wanted 4.2 stable so I got it 😉 Ryzen is generally a poor OCer though you don't get much more than 0.2 over boost. a cooler for you should be for a quieter. cooler CPU rather than squeezing .2GHz out.

Wow.....1.475 volts? I was running 4.15 GHz at 1.375 volts for quite a long time, but with keeping all my ball pythons for my business in my office now, the ambient temps are in the low 80's, so I've had to limit it back to 4.0 GHz. It's still at 1.375 volts, but isn't spiking over 64c now while doing Fusion 360 renderings.

Ryzen's do seem very hit or miss when it comes to OC'ing, which is unfortunate. I definitely wouldn't try and push it past 4.0 GHz if you are living someplace natively hot. I'd go as far as a voltage under 1.4 would let me and call it a day. I don't, personally, think running it over 1.4 is worth the risk.
