Best GPU for around £250

I need to update my gpu as my current one is outdated and slow (Nvidia Asus 550ti 1gb)

I have been looking around and doing some research on a good card for around £250 so far an msi ati r9 280x is looking like a winner but i want to hear other opinions or there might be a better card for around that price.

My goal is to max out bf4 on multi-player and maintain 60fps at ALL times please help.

That is a lovely card and extremely powerful, though it hasn't come in stock yet. Otherwise you can go for the GTX770 ACX SC edition by Evga. Top class.

at this price, a 280x or a GTX770 will be the best choice (considering that you can find some rebate as they're both at 270-280£ and about 400 USD)

I don't know if you have any preference and/or Physx games enabled but generally speaking, the 770 is a tad faster (not even by 5%) but is also physx capable so if you play some F2P games like hawken and planetside 2 (that i recommend btw 😛) then the Nvidia side is way more appealing than the AMd side...

If you are using some OpenCL programs for video rendering, 3d rendering and/or photo editing, then the AMD side is more powerfull...

If your only goal as you wrote is to max out BF4 at 60fps, then both would be the same but AMD is supposed to be mantle enabled soon and promised more performance so, personnally i would wait to see how much the performance gain there is and decide on that later (as it's coming out this month on paper)

Question how much faster is that card than the 770?

I don't know how much but it is faster for sure. At the moment not many benchmarks have been released for the r280x Toxic since it is still not in stock in many shops.

In that case ill wait one month to see if its much better against the 770.
