Best GPU for Triple Monitor Setup?

I'm looking to replace my aging gaming pc with one that has an i5-6600k, 16GB of RAM and an ssd. I want to be able to have a triple monitor setup this time around, so I was wondering: can a single RX 480 push 3 1080p monitors, or should I look into other options? I was also looking at buying a GTX 1070 new or a GTX 980ti used.

Disagree. 3x 1080p @ 60z is a cakewalk for lots of other GPU's, including my GTX 980M which performs admirably pushing 2 4k screens. Which is almost (forgive me) the same as running 8 1080p screens.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mNmpfRMcgE that's with a 4gb card, I've got the 8gb.

Depends on what games you want. Fast twitch stuff you're probably better off with a lower res and a higher refresh rate, but Witcher and GTA @ 30fps are fine (most connection cables limit you at this point anyway depending on what 4k display you're using. You can get 60hz with HDMI 2.0 or DP.

I'm not disagreeing with you, for $150 bucks, its probably worth it to get the newer card, but if you're looking for cheaper solutions that come close, there's a lot of other options than the 1080.

The 980 Ti is still a solid performer also.

Mate, there's YouTube "benchmarks" of GTA V that show the GTX 480 doing constant 60FPS at 1080p max settings. The only YouTube videos you can reference if you want any credibility are those from large YouTube review channels. The GTX 980M can't do more than 30FPS with triple-A games at 4K (at decent settings). If you want to prove otherwise, do a live benchmark with your laptop and then maybe anyone will believe you.

There's no "cheaper solutions" that aren't in the GTX 1000-series. The card you want for 4K is the GTX 1080. If you can't afford that the next best option is the GTX 1070 which still outperforms the 980 Ti. Older cards simply can't compete.

ALERT: Your thread has been taken over by forum trolls. You can be sure of this terrible condition if you notice overtly condescending posts that claim to be more informed than anyone else and are not open to evidence refuting their claims. This is often caused by a need to justify the ridiculous amount of money spent for the latest in hardware when 90% of its capability can be had for 50% of the cost.

If you think you'll see a marked performance difference between a 60hz 4K setup and a 1440p with G sync, I can't help you... "MATE."

1080 goes for about $650-$700. 980's can be had under $400 easily, and depending on where you're buying your PC from, you'll see a much bigger premium on the overall build price of the unit with the 1080 in it.
