Best gpu out there

Ok so I've been doing research lately and I'm just not sure what gpu is the best for me. I'm going to be recording videos, gaming, editing etc. I leaning for towards nvidia because I have more knowledge with these cards. I want the card to be future with amazing 1440p gaming 60+ fps. Anything sli or non sli I just don't know what card. Right now I don't quite have a budget, so if you could list cards that would be amazing.

What if I wanted 1080p now what do you suggest?

Then probably a 970 or 390 now, that you would SLI/CrossFire later. Check to be sure that your motherboard supports SLI or CrossFire (or both) as some that support multi-GPU will only support one or the other. Also if you're building the system new, be sure to appropriately size your PSU to handle the second card so it doesn't have to be upgraded when the time comes.
