"Best" graphics card choice?

Long story short, I've recently disposed of a faulty Gigabyte WINDFORCE OC edition. I now need a card that will not fail like the last, one that will run Black Flag, Battlefield 4, Global Offensive, all of the high-end stuff.

My choice is between EVGA, or MSI. What one should I go with, and why?

I do have an MSI motherboard (z87 G65 Gaming mobo) and I wonder if getting an MSI card to match will spell better security in terms of stability?

EVGA GTX 780 ti - you can pick one up for around £500. I have the EVGA GTX 770 and it is really fast and reliable, I can run most high settings on games. The company also seems to offer wonderful customer service so that's why I went for EVGA. MSI is a great company too, both are better than Gigabyte.
Yes you can match the MSI but I think it might all just come down to benchmarks really.

I'd get a R9 290 Tri X Crossfire and enjoy smoking any game on Ultra on FHD, same with 2k and 40-50 FPS on Ultra on 4k 😀

I should have mentioned my system specs, I'm NVIDIA based.

i7 4770k.

16GB Corsair Vengeance RAM

G65 Gaming Mobo

AX860 PSU

Dark Rock 3 CPU cooler.

What Nvidia card would you pick?

Do you mean you're inclined to Nvidia? You're not leaned towards any brand in terms of rig. Your MoBo can support both single AMD/ Nvidia GPUs and Crossfire or SLI too. Well if Nvidia is a compulsion, then I'd go with EVGA GTX 780 Ti Dual Classified ACX.

I actually agree with you. If you go for crossfire setup then obviously get R9 290x otherwise I'd go for 780 TI for the single setup where it would excel more.

But you're saving more money with the R9 290x and good potential for overclocking. Money you save could go on other upgrades.

I understand. You see, I may have learned how to build a computer, but the deeper details are still rather rusty. I had no idea I could support AMD as well.

I thought otherwise because I have a Nvidia processor. Does a Nvidia processor make AMD products harder to function in a system? I'm supposing not, but just to make sure, I'll ask. Gotta learn from the start somewhere eh?

You have an Intel processor, Nvidia or AMD are not in the picture. Any GPU will run with any CPU as long as MoBo supports both, which it does in your case. A Tri X 290 crossfire will defeat any single GPU (besides R9 295X2) in almost any game at any resolution.

I'm trying to pick between EVGA and MSI. Both of which seem so similar in performance and reliability. Overall I want security, knowing that if something went wrong or I was dis-satisfied, I could get a refund / replacement easily.

Great choice. Yeah it looks good and glad you got EVGA, the customer service is reliable and the cards are great. The PSUs are the best too. Seasonic not too far.
