I have finally trashed my AMD Sempron +3000 and replaced it for AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000

So now here is parts that i going to replace in my old computer:
CPU: AMD Semprom +3000 with AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000
RAM: 1GB DDR2 with 4GB DDR2
Motherboard: GA-M61VME-S2 (rev. 2.0) <-- Not going to replace that. Just to let you guys know what mobo i have
HDD: 160GB to 500GB PS: Can SATA II HDD work with SATA I Motherboard?

First question i want to ask is Do i need to flash my bios and how to do it without breaking my mobo (I heard you can mess up your mobo) So do i have to flash bios in order to make all this work or not I have F4 BIOS from 2006

Second question (And most important)
What's the best GPU that is not going to be bottlenecked by AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000 3,1 GHZ
And how are newer games going to work with it

PS: This is my other computer in my other house That's the reason why i upgrade it

Solution
You will probably have to update your BIOS and it shouldn't mess anything up. Download the correct software from gigabyte website.

GPU - get maybe a HD7750
2G R7-265 .. what if I got one of these ? These are rated better than the 750 gtx ti not by much.. but at my level every lil edge is enough, so I can avoid upgrading fully... SO I can start saving my a real upgrade. But atm I'm married and doing things tight for now hah :)

It's within $20 of each other.

If you plan to upgrade the CPU later, then just get the very best GPU you can afford and don't even worry about bottleneck :)

And AMD or nvidia doesn't really matter

Alright thanks. well for now i'll grab either the r7-265(saw something on youtube vs the other card slightly better) or 750ti (this is my gut feeling tho)

I need to keep away from these forums because all I do is start researching/checking prices and already worked out what AM3 mobo I'm getting with a 8xcpu ... 760 gtx

But I'm sure the quad+mid range card will see me through for 2 yrs or at until I start buying the new build :) anyways thanks for your time and this place is addictive.

So my quick fix is the 750 gtx ti. which i'll have enough play money to buy 1 for my pc.

I can save 40 play money aside without wife being upset :)

hmmm amd 3 AsRock 980DE3-U3S3 with a 8350 fx.... and then if I don't buy the 750 ti and hold off til I can get the 760 2g... so cpu+mobo works out to be round $280... and then instead of 180 on a graphics I spend 260-300 for the 760... hmmm I cant see a 8350 fx bottlenecking.

Is it possible to just hook up my current harddrives with windows etc and expect it to run the OS? Means I could pretty much run everything at ultra at the cost of 500 basically which isn't much at all.. since I already have a decent 2ms monitor, gaming headset and z5500 speakers.
