Agreed, 4870x2 in its prototype testing has proven to be an excellent gpu - given its this close to release time, there is no reason not to wait 2-4 weeks for the 4870x2

Those are my primary resources.

ed: about getting knowledge

I worked for a system builder about 100 years ago, I started tinkering with computers when I was 10 years old. Pretty much all first-hand experience and reading review sites and manufacturer sites, it takes some time to get up on the newest tech, but after a while you start to pick up on the details - functionally, a lot of it works similarly.

You are all kidding yourselves with this ATI crap...don't forget the OP wants CRYSIS performance. He has to get Nvidia GPUs so he can play it the way its meant to be played... [:thegreatgrapeape:5]

Maybe this will help

^^
depends on what you want to spend i guess. if you don't care about performance per dollar go with nvidia.
the GTX280 SLI setup would be...around $900?
a 4870 crossfire setup would be...around $575?
a 4850 crossfire setup would be...around $325?

the 9800GX2 won't run it as well but i'll admit it's not bad for around 350.
but it's funny how the nvidia fanboys are these days.

EDIT: ati did fix their crappy AA problems, which is something to consider. notice the big hit on the 9800GX2 with AA enabled.

like i said my 4850 at 1440x900 on very high ran it at right around 30. avg 31 if i remember right.
point is, ati's back in the game.

^yeah i lol'd too

if you're trying to spend up to 2000 dollars you can make an amazing system.

just find stuff you think you might be interested and ask in the forums, if the part hasn't already been covered.

The key is to get combo deals, it can really drop system cost down by several hundred dollars by the time you finish up.
