Just ran into some money and I think the gtx 1070 is my best choice. I have a few questions, my old gigabyte r9 280x was 285mm long and the 1070 I was looking at the gigabyte g1 is 286mm long and I have a Corsair carbide 200r case. The second question I do 1080p gaming is there a better choice card than the 1070 and also is the evga ftw 1070 worth the extra $50 over the gigabyte g1 1070. In New Zealand I think all cards are sent to the same place for rma so I don't think brand is an issue there.

This discussion is relevant to my interests. I want a GTX 1070. I can afford a GTX 1070. What I'm unsure about is whether or not it's a good value.
The cheapest 1070 I could find is about NZD$670. When I compare that to a 8GB RX 480 at NZD$400, I have to ask myself, "am I getting $270 more value's worth out of the 1070?". I'll be gaming at 1080p for the foreseeable future, and I prefer to get something that will last me at least 3 years. But I'm wondering about saving that $270 now and putting that towards a sooner upgrade. Vega and Volta are around the corner...
The GPU market seems a bit bonkers at the moment, and the added element of NZ pricing is making choices difficult. My current plan is to see what prices do and what deals come up by year's end, and hopefully that value-gap will close and that 1070 will seem like a clear winner.
