the evga classified is the best, with the msi lightning trailing slightly behind, then the "out of production" galaxy hall of fame, and then the asus matrix.

all these cards use a 14 phase power delivery design specifically made for extreme overclocking. but this is only factoring in a full water block. the classified has everything going for it if you want to run a 240 rad for the block and be at 1.5ghz+/- core frequency 24/7/365 stable overclock. it is by far the best and the only other card better than it is its big brother the classified kingpin edition which is just a further binned gk110 with a pcb designed to accommodate a liquid nitrogen pot and better access points to voltage/power circuitry for hard mods.

if your not...

wait are you talking to me about the msi lighting. The ligtning is sexy i would love but as you said no one probably going to still have that 3yrs from now. I need a honest opinion is msi reputable, gigabyte? Also is the dual x version from sapphire good when compared to vapor x and other cooling methods

if I you can afford a high end card like this now, there is no way you will still have it in 3years unless you SLI since going from ultra to mid settings will be such a sad story

no I wasn't anyway it all comes to brand preference at the end of the day, I wouldn't touch and Nvidia card if it wasn't EVGA or MSI anyway and ASUS products are just over-priced for no reason and they aren't on the same lvl as EVGA and MSI in my own opinion

Most of my users keep boxes for more than 3 years .... 4 is not unusual.

In the 80's and 90's i used a wide range of suppliers.......starting at about 2002, I gravitated more and more towards Asus tho sprinkled a few EVGA cards in the mix in thse years. Thru the 6xx series I felt they were unmatched .... the Asus 560 Ti was a killer card, capable of 25- 30% overclocks ..... 670 DCII TOP was incredible. But with the 7xx series, Asus went conservative... look at almost every card in their lineup and it's 10% slower outta the box than Gigabyte, EVGA and MSI offerings.

I got off EVGA starting with bad experiences with their factory overclocked cards and was scared off by their unique status as the only major vendor to use reference PCBs in their factory overclocked cards. I found I could not overclock user's EVGA cards because of heat and voltage concerns with the weak VRMs. nVidia has redesigned thier PCBs and now the reference cards have more suitable VRMs for overclocking which should even up that gap a bit. MSI went with the new reference design for the 780 Ti whereas Asus stayed with their older custom PCB.

I'm a quiet nut and water cool my personal systems for silence much more so than for overclocking. The drastic difference between MSI and everybody else on fan noise is the strongest and most notable difference between them and everyone else. The fact that they are always the fastest outta the box and the cheapest (780 Ti is $600 every other week on newegg) makes it easy.

On motherboards, MSi has taken the $100 - $200 market by storm. I don't know they make any money on the G45 and GD65.... for example the GD65 and Hero are, top to bottom, almost an exact feature match and the GD65 sells for $40 cheaper. At the high end, I prefer Asus...their BIOS and utilities alone are superior enough to not consider anything else. But the BIOS clock freeze bug on Asus Z87/Z97 boards has had me suspend any Z97 based builds w/ over a $200 MoBo budget. Below that price point, I'm using just the GD65 and G45.

No one's even mentioned that the Asus card in question is the Matrix Platinum, easily the best, most high-performance video card Asus ever produced.

Quote:
"Underneath that extensive heatsink there’s a DIGI+ VRM with Black Metallic Capacitors and a 14-phase PWM boasting ASUS’ Super Alloy Power features. With concrete-reinforced chokes and hardened MOSFETS which not only avoid coil whine but are also more resistant to heat buildup during longer overclocking sessions. It’s a truly impressive setup and one which befits a flagship GPU."

"Trying to find negatives on this card is nearly impossible. ASUS has created a highly overclockable, feature-rich product that is worthy of its Republic of Gamers Matrix namesake. Granted, the GTX 780 Ti Matrix Platinum won't even be close to affordable when it's launched later this month but if you’ve got the cash, it may be the best GTX 780 Ti available for a good long time."

I actually did and recommended it...

I'm sorry, I must have missed you trying to draw attention to the fact that it's the Matrix Platinum. Or did I?

Before making a buying decision. Better read the reviews of the short listed cards. Here I give you reviews on EVGA GTX 780Ti SC and Asus Matrix Platinum 780Ti. Read the reviews completely including the overclocking potential of both cards in reference with their target performance level. You'll see EVGA card performs better than Asus card:

if your not going to water block… please just skip all 4 of the models i listed and just get an evga acx, msi twin frozr/gaming, gigabyte windforce, or asus dc2 as they all are fine on air and will still hit a thermal cooling limit long before they see a voltage bottleneck.

and yes, since the msi gaming is the cheapest, its probably your best bet and is a great card no doubt.

Asus ROG or the reference 780Ti. Can't go wrong with the LED being the centerpiece of your PC. Then again I don't know if you care about how your PC looks, for all I know you could have some raidmax case with all the wires tangled up in the front lol. If you want sheer performance, a watercooled classified 780 card can't be beat.

BTW the asus rog is a hybrid fan/watercooler gpu that comes with LEDs. It's the full package. I'd definitely go with that if you want performance and a sexy looking piece of graphics hardware.

I liked your answer somehow,so I make it as soultion. Also,I like answers from moderator 17seconds,he know what he's doing.

Good point. I just had the side of my case off and turned on the PC. That green glowing "Geforce GTX" logo looked cool as hell.
