Best Motherboard for a Tualatin Celeron ?

Which of the following boards is the best choice for overclocking a Tualatin Celeron 1400 ?

Abit ST6 ATX
Asus TUSL2-C ATX
EPoX EP-3SPA3 ATX
Matsonic MS7057C ATX
MicroStar 815EP PRO-R (MS-6337 V3.0B) ATX

Instinctively I look towards Asus TUSL2-C, because Asus are well known for their reliability and quality.

On the other hand we have Abit, known for their speed and high prices, but my impression is that they are less strong in the areas of reliability and quality.

Both boards has overclocking features and since we are talking about a Celeron Tualatin 1400 the FSB is not going to be that high, about 125, maybe more depending on the cooling solution.

What to select ?

ive seen more of the asus board than i do the abit...in fact...ive never heard of that abit board before (but thats just me)...my guess would be the asus board is better...

Well, the TUSL2-C is the most prefered board. I owned the earlier version, CUSL2.

Overclocking the 1400, hmm. If you want to overclock, you might consider the 1000 Tualatin, you should be able to reach a much higher bus speed with it. Tualatin Celerons LOVE bus speed.

A Tually 1000 will be able to hit a much higher FSB than the 1400, maybe even 1400, pairing it with some high quality SDR, you could have a potential Athlon/P4 killer there. The 1400 (with higher multiplier of 14) will have a harder time hitting higher FSBs.

yaa. get the cellery 1000 or 1200

then with a little luck you should be able to change the fsb to 133, ensuring all your pci/agp devices work propery and a nice 33% overclock.

1000 -> 1333 is easy
1200 -> 1600 is possible
1400 -> 1900 i dont think so.

So first I'll try stock cooling. Then I'll try some conventional water-cooling. If this doesn't do the trick, I have a plan of building a sub-zero water/glycol cooling solution, which will make VapoChill look bad. There's no way that the price of the cooling solution will be worth it price-/performancewise, I know, but later on the cooling system is going to be used on my upcoming P4 2.26B system. Furthermore, my cooling solution is going to be cheaper than a Vapochill case, although more bulky.

d00d, I can't even get my 1200 to 1600 with extreme voltage and hardcore air cooling.

i really prefer the duron with ddr ram combo. duron is way cheaper and runs much faster with ddr. and u can upgrade to barton later without changing the mobo and ram. in terms of price/performance ratio, duron wins over celeron big time.
however, if u r into overclocking, get the celeron. but as others have already pointed out, the celly1A is a better overclocker than celly1400.
but i guess u have decided to go with the 1400 already. if so, get the asus board. it's a reliable mobo.

This mail was written on a PC with an Asus TUSL2-C motherboard and a Tualatin Celeron 1400MHz @ 1722MHz (123 MHz FSB), Vcore = 1.55V, stable and with stock air-cooling.

Not that bad.
