Best OC Stability Software

Hey everyone, so I got a new 4790K and H100i and am interested in testing my OC. I heard there are some issues with p95 overstressing the CPUs recently and not being very good for testing the real world stability. Even at stock my CPU was hitting high 70s with p95s small fft test. Did I get a bad chip or cooler? I'm cleaning and remounting now and was wondering if there's any other software I should try using.

Prime95 can sometimes be a bit dodgy with certain chip lines.
Not often mind-you.

Try OCCT, Intel Burn Test and/or Furmark.
Keep in mind that the latter two are fairly aggressive.

Perhaps your thermal compound needs time to settle in? I doubt it though.

Prime95 throws everything it can at your CPU, NB & Ram, its expected to get high temps, I advise always to run your CPU fan at max when testing with this. However it definitely shows if you have a stable OC.

I'm literally in the middle of reapplying thermal paste haha, give me a few and I'll boot it up and let you know.

My 2500K never hit temps this high at 4.8ghz

Idle temp is ~25C, room temp is 24.9 C. So I guess idle is pretty good. Gonna try stress test now.

Ok so before even letting it run the thermal paste reapplication helped a ton. Prior to doing this it was shooting up to ~78C immediately after starting small fft test in p95, now it's not even hitting 60 after a few minutes. I think I must have put it on wrong initially.

Your 2500K also didn't have hyper threading or 3D transistors. Apples and oranges.

Well I don't know what's going on again but it's hitting over 80 on stock now. I don't know wtf the deal is. I'm wondering if there's something wrong with my cooler. With my motherboard completely on stock it won't activate turbo mode in stress testing either...
