At first, I was going to do either a Skylake or Haswell build, but it turned out that the i7-5820K was cheaper than the quad core i7 K editions... The somewhat more expensive motherboard evens out the price difference from Skylake, but there's still the two core count advantage for Haswell-E. Haswell is still cheaper thanks to cheaper DDR3 memory, but not by enough and its more limited connectivity shows.

I do like the case but for $686 you could buy a lower end 3D printer, some Lexan and build a Imperial Cruiser, Borg Cube or whatever case you can dream up.

I thought about using 3D printers in the past to make custom cases, but I've always worried how well they would cope with the dissipation of heat. That and I don't think I could provide amazon links for it :sad:

Intel's enthusiast platform in the smallest package you can possibly get? Sure, why not? You have the only mini ITX X99 motherboard on the market, Silverstone's awesome mini ITX Raven Z02 is the centerpiece, you also have the Cryorig C7, and a MSI 980TI TwinFROZR V to top it off. Is it excessive overkill? Absolutely. But why not?

The build HAS to be under 2000, sorry :/

I'm seeing 2007.00 without shipping included as well. Builds do not have to remain at the stated price once you've posted an accurate build but the initial PCPP listing MUST be below the category price initially, without shipping included or else it's invalid.

That wasn't true when he made the build. Amazon prices change quickly. Also, check the prices on Amazon. pcpp doesn't always have the lowest prices (or even correct prices) listed for Amazon. For example, the CPU cooler can be had for $28.86 before shipping right now and that brings the build to $2001.91. The hard drive can be had for $42.99 before shipping. That brings the build price to $1995.56 as of right now. Checking the CPU and the motherboard brings it down to a final price of $1982.75 before shipping. It is valid for the price and he provided the amazon links that prove it.

I do believe whoever is going to pick those builds, will just be looking at the final price that's in the individual post and not go through PCPP to see what the base total is, because prices change and one of the rules was no rebates allowed. All of those that pass the $2K mark even by 1 cent are invalid.

Pretty obvious as to the motif behind this one. :lol:

I'm glad you KNOW what's really going on, even though you don't. Stay tuned, fun coming soon.

I'd like to see a corsair version of that build. Since Corsair makes AIOs, RAM, SSDs, PSUs, Cases, and NOW Graphics cards. :)

Say what? What does he mean he knows but doesn't know?

@Techy: Corsair makes cards?
