[SOLVED] Best Pre-Built for Alienware AW3418DW $2000 budget

Hi. I’m in need of a desktop upgrade for gaming mostly and I have never built a computer before, I’m not sure how I feel about putting together a $2000 machine so I checked out some Pre-Built.

I live in New York, have a $2000 budget that I would like to make the most out of this monitor.

I was looking at these 2 Pre-Built computers and was wondering on other people’s thoughts.

I’m pretty sure I want the 1080ti graphic card. If there is a better setup my ears are open.

If these Pre-Builts are no good please tell me. I’m somewhat open to building a rig after watching some motivational speeches.

I have keyboard, mouse and monitor.

These two are fairly equal values compared to each other. The one on amazon has more high speed storage but less storage overall. The one on Newegg has WiFi and faster ram. You could save 300-400 dollars building it yourself. So that is up to you. Both systems have double the amount of ram needed for gaming and neither have very good ram or good CPU coolers for what you’re paying. The 1080ti is a great card and is only outright beat by the 2080ti, but if you want the best of the best, the 2080ti is what you’re looking for. The cheapest prebuilt with a 2080ti runs around $2500. But if you are absolutely against building your own then I think I would choose the one linked on Newegg. If you were to build your own I believe you could fit a...

There is little risk to assembling your own PC and you gain the knowledge of knowing possible fixes to problems that might occur down the road.

I will consider building my own if I can make a better one.

Any chance someone would be able to help put one together. I’ll start looking around.

I’ll be buying parts once I have the full parts pieces ready to go.

So in this new build I’ll make sure to have 16gb of ram instead of 32.

This is a good start. I stuck with a 2080 because there was no pricing available for 2080ti’s. The 1080ti is a better value than the 2080 for now but the 2080 supports ray tracing and performs equally well in games. The case isn’t the highest end but it is a very nice case. You are more than doubling your SSD storage and 1TB is a great start for gaming. The CPU cooler is twice as large as the ones in the prebuilts you linked. The ram is also much faster as well. I threw this together rather quickly just to show you some options.

Oh man. Thanks a lot. I was just on pcpartpicker and was trying to put something together, I just need more knowledge on what parts go good together so I don’t have a hot and broken computer

The 1080ti and 2080 are both fairy capable at 4K. Your monitor is a little bit under “4k” and almost any modern CPU will not bottleneck a system at such a high resolution. So the GPU is really the most important thing.
