Best 'test' of hard drives

Hi all,

I have quite a few 2.5" HDDs laying around, probably 10-15 from various laptop upgrades and others I've simply acquired over time.

Is there any 'one and done' utility I could you to check the health status of these drives? Various brands common to laptops; Seagate, WD, HGST and I'm sure there's a random one for good measure.

Ideally I'd test these while connected via an external USB enclosure, but I'm no opposed to having them attached via SATA internally if that would provide more accurate results...

I'm aware each brand has their own utility - well, WD & Seagate do for sure, but is there such a utility available that would work across varying brands?

I like HD Tune for drive testing mostly for the surface test, although, I'm not sure how accurate it is, it's been a reliable indicator for me in the past.

Each manufacturer has their own utility for testing drives. It's a test you can run to check for warranty status. You can use those.

Gondo - as I mentioned, I'm aware of the specific utilities, but I'd rather a single program to test them all.

Sorry I missed your last line that stated you knew about the utilities.

HDDD Scan is better than HD Tune for the free versions.
