Respectable OCing ability with the i5 and CM 212, low-profile RAM for cooler clearance, 128GB SSD for OS and a few games, 650W PSU with four PCIe power cables ( two 6-pin, two 8-pin, ) for SLI/XFire option in the future, brushed aluminum Lian-Li case for style and statement.

Note, some of these promo dicounts may expire before this is fully voted on, I don't know if that will invalidate my submission.

It would be better off to remove that 500GB HDD, and use that to put it towards a larger size SSD. 80GB for boot drive is way too small because Win7 or Win8 takes up about 30GB. After installing your programs, there will not no space left.
Also that SSD is SATA 3Gb/s not SATA 6Gb/s.

It's surprising how many K-series builds don't have at least a H212 EVO..

Well here we go( new egg prices):
CPU:Intel I5 3350P 180$
Mother Board:MSI Z77MA-G45 90$
RAM:G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 2400Mghz 70$
Graphic Card:Zotac GTX 770 AMP! Edition 400$
H.D.D:Western Digital 1TB 90$
Case:Cooler Master HAF 922 90$
Power:Evga SuperNOVA NEX750B 60$
Cooling:---------------
DVD Burner:SAMSUNG DVD Burner Model SH-224DB/BEBE - OEM 20$
________________________________________________________________________________________
A total of 1000$
i have reasons for my choices: CPU: that's a good gaming CPU with high and Solid performance for money.doesn't heat up.but it can't Over clock much.gaming is not very dependent on CPU anyway.
Mother board is a micro ATX Board so it won't need much space also you can add coolers later on.it have everything you would need.also it has a nice and good BIOS.it also has a great price.
RAM:i know that 3350P can't support more than 1600(according to newegg detail sheet) BUT the 1600Mghz version of this ram has the same price so i picked this in order to avoid changing it for future updates.also G.Skill has the a quality same as Corsasir BUT lower price!this one has nice heat sink too.and the color matches the blue heat sinks of the mother board.
VGA: i know zotac is not very popular in USA but they have great quality cards which usually have higher clock rates compared to others with lower price!.the AMP! Edition is Super Clocked and it's cheaper than other SC cards with higher clock rate compared to others.it also has a great heat sink.i've red in reviews that in full load it won't go any higher than 80 CC.also if you over clock it you can make it reach the performance of a Stock clock 780!(but get a back plate and a water cooler before doing that!)
H.D.D: WD for maximum performance.High RPM.High quality.i didn't suggest a SSD with a blue WD cuz SSD dies sooner than H.D.D and when you are on a budget you don't want that!
Case:this cooler master is perfect in my opinion it has 2x200mm Fans +1x120mm fan on the rear.not noisy and there are Tons of 5 Egg reviews about it.it also have the IRON EGG.i didn't suggest a Cooler cuz this one has enough fans and Space.the micro ATX motherboard i suggested would fit easily in this and there will be a lot of space for air to flow inside the case since the case is Mid-ATX.
Power Supply:Evga is doing a great job with their power supplies.people who bought them are very happy with them and this one has a very good price and high quality bronze PS.according to EVGA you can Dual-SLI 780 or TITAN with this PS Just OKAY!
Cooling:i would say not needed.you can't over Clock 3350P much anyway.also over clocking the GPU might have some effects on your gaming but not the CPU.
DVD Burner:it might come in handy but these days with Steam around and internet i would say you rarely gonna use this. But the Samsung DVD burner i suggested is 24X 20$ price (5$off with promo code right now so 15$) and it has IRON EGG.

No aftermarket CPU cooler. Not even the H212 EVO.

I just wanted to commend you for the actual budget config. I realize there is a world where $1000 is a "budget" system, but it's not any world I've visited.

How long more till the poll arrives and the best build is chosen, I can't wait. I'm delaying on buying a new computer because of this thread :)

Thank you for noticing that. I haven't checked any of the articles recently, and apparently back in July, Intel decided to cut out the B85/87 from overclocking. They are focusing on just the z87, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, but I don't work at Intel, so I don't know what they are planning

Yeah me too, 770 SLI or single 780

updated 9/23/13

Key points:
1. CPU allows for overclocking if/when the time comes. No need for additional cooling until the need to OC arrives.
2. Motherboard is a solid player with excellent BIOS and overclocking abilities. Again, when needed, it is there.
3. Video card gives plenty of punch for newer games, and while it might not max out BF4 or Crysis, it is EVGA (great quality), affordable, OC-able, and SLI-able.
4. Case is simple, affordable, durable, excellent quality, good "sleeper" case, lots of fan slots.
5. PSU will drive the GTX760 and have extra power for other accessories.
6. Finally, most components are hot on rebate lists.

If desired, you can find a small SSD for around $100 to bring you right up to $1000.

Large and in Charge:

SSD is booming. 1866 RAM, yes please. i7..nothing better. R4..quiet as a mouse and cool like a cat. Modular is a must.

IB over Haswell for slightly more consistent overclocking. Blue is the theme, and the Asus P8Z77 - LK Motherboard and 1866mhz DDR3 g.Skill Ram and Cooler Master 200mm blue LED top fan work well within this. Great price on the cooler for solid performance. Standard 1tb HDD. Great price on a great Sapphire Vapor-X 7970 ghz edition. Plenty of Psu power for this build and overclocking, and it's modular. Hell, I want this build.

Here's my build !

A lot of budget builds include a GTX 760 or 7950, i tried to squeeze in a 770 instead 😀. What do you guys think?
Note: this includes a monitor and is in CAD meaning it would be cheaper in USD 😀.
