Hi everyone,

I currently have 2x2GB Gskill memory installed in my system and I've been running starcraft 2 for the past month on high settings 1080 res getting about 30 FPS, I eventually switched to medium settings because it was getting too slow during battle (under 30 fps) which got me about 60-70 fps. Just yesterday I tested my ram again and removed one stick and checked out how sc2 would run and somehow I was getting 60-70FPS on ultra settings, 1080 res.
I then added the ram back and it kept the same FPS as before. What's going on here? The only other game I have to test out is Dirt 3 which gave me the same FPS as I normally would. (44 avg, 35 minimum) What's going on here?

I have a 6670 XFX gpu, a8-2850 apu, 600w psu, f1a750mpro mobo

What Operating system are you using?

If you are using a 32-bit operating system, windows can only allocate 4GB of memory total, which would include RAM and GPUMemory.

So, if you have 4GB RAM + 1GB GPU memory = 5GB which means windows has to figure out which not to address. I am not positive on this but it might preference RAM over GPU memory.

So, when you drop down to 2GB of RAM + 1GB GPU Memory = 3GB total, windows doesn't have to pick and choose which type of memory to use.

Hopefully this helps a bit, the explination might be a tad hard to follow, it's still early here.

system ram and video ram do not store the same types of data. nor do they share memory. the only exception to is is with integrated graphics cards but even that keeps the videocards part of the ram separate. kinda like a partition.

but to figure out your problem. your two sticks might be in the wrong slots. make sure it says dual channel on the splash screen when booting. and try it different anyways see if it gets better or worst. should be either both in blue slots or both in black.
also updating your bios and chipset drivers might effect it. could have bugs in it.
