Better option cheap or pricy cpu?

I need a new cpu and along with it i need a new mb and ram first i thought ill get a cheap cpu like i3 8100 but then i thought if i get that one ill need a better one in the future so maybe its best if i get i5 8500 and save myself some money like an investment!
I dont know whats the best solution
Im gratefull to any and all assistance!

Well, that does make things more difficult. In that case, my best advice would be to wait until you do know what you want. Give it a month or two. If you decide then that you still want the I3-8100, well any monies you saved from now until then is just spare cash on hand now. If you decide you want to go with the I5-8500 (or the I5-9600K), then you're ready for it.

As for spending more on a processor that you did on the graphics card, I do that and I prefer it that way. My graphics card is only working on one or two applications at a time; whereas my processor could be running any number of applications, including the two my graphics card is working on.

I can afford the pricier cpu but the i3 8100 can run all the newest games as well as i5 8500 and i dont really want to spend that much for a cpu thats more than i paied my gpu(1050ti)
I guess the thing is i dont know what i want x)
