BF2 general annoyances, losing connection to server, etc

I've been playin BF2 for the last year or so and I'm getting really fed up with all the issues it has. I get the "you have a connection problem" message several times a night, but there's nothing wrong with my connection. I run a ping to several different servers on my 2nd monitor and they all stay normal (50-70ms).

Then recently, (within the past month or so I'd say) I started getting randomly disconnected from servers, even if it isn't complaining about my connection and the ping is great. My game will freeze up so I can't move, then about 15 seconds go by and it disconnects me saying my connection to the server has been lost. However, I can go right back into the server after that.

My Internet connection is strong, I have a LivePing setup that pings about 30 different hosts on different networks and I don't have any issues with dropped packets.

Also is it just me, or does the server browser SUCK? If I try to filter the results, the list just goes blank, and if I remove the filter it stays blank. If I then click update list, it doesn't do anything. Sometimes when I'm looking at the favorite servers list and I click refresh, servers randomly disappear from the list but I know they're still running.

Arggghhh... EA really needs to do some better QA on their games..

This is supposedly an issue with the 1.3 patch. Some fixes were supposed to be implemented on the server side to fix this. This should be completely resolved once the 1.4 patch is released.

I have a lot of problems with BF2. Sometimes when joining a server it just crashes back to the desktop, this normally happens at least once every day. I also get disconnected from servers whilst in game but I think this is because the server sometimes crashes. I believe patch 1.3 is known to have introduced a lot of issues.
