Don't worry! Tons of people have been getting this problem. I would give you a list of things to try, but everyone else said that they didn't fix the problem. All I can say is: wait a few days until EA fixes the problem. But as I said before, you're not the only one :)

Haha no problem man. Any other questions or have I answered them all? 😛

that was about it. ill wait for more info or a fix to come out,
thank you

You guys should learn that EA sucks!!! They've been the worst company in America 2 years in a row. Same problems I had with MOH:W. The BETA crashed every other game on BF4, it was a known problem! EA/DICE had 2 weeks to fix the problem and still haven't figured it out. Just consider yourselves lucky that maybe enough people bought this game to warrant a fix, unlike most EA games that supports dropped on after a patch or 2. MOH:W had so much potential and they gave up on it because they tried cashing in on the COD fans before BO2 came out with they thought they were going to out do COD by sending out an unfinished game! It failed, bad business and PR IMO. Ea's already got your money now suckers. Buyer Beware! EA=Enormous A**holes!

EA are good, they just are terrible at updating things 😛
And DICE are fine, it's just EA..

You don't have to restart when it crashes. Hit ctrl Alt Delete and open Task Manager. End program from there and it should close or have a window that says "close now"or something. For the rest of your problem, I don't know. I have the same kind of problem.

I have had this, how do I fix this? Windows 7 ultimate 64 bits

I doesn't seem to do it now after restarting and applying updates and a few other things I don't recall unfortunately. What it still does do in Windows 8 is Directx errors. That appears to be wide spread across platforms. I had thought it was a conflict in Windows 8 with my old motherboard, but after reading dozens of threads on the subject, it's quite common. I tried running in compatibility mode to no avail.

On my Vista system (dual boot) it never crashes from dx errors or gets memory leaks. Of course when the server crashes it isn't any less frustrating. Here's the thing: my 6970 has obsolete drivers from April(?) because AMD no longer supports Vista. Tonight I'm going to try older drivers (pre-optimized BF4) on Windows 8 to see if the Dx error stops.

Some of the fixes people claim work seem a bit silly. EA/Dice need to address this problem ASAP. BF3 players are also experiencing Dx errors, but again I don't on the Vista machine (haven't tried BF3 on 8).

For your problem, which I assume is memory leak related, do a search for 'battlefield 4 memory leak'.

im in the same situation, game runs superb and every so often it freezers and the audio keeps repeating then after about 30 seconds it goes back to normal again just keeps doing it every 20 minutes or so, tried playing about with the graphics, reinstalling my direct x drivers, updating my graphics drivers etc.

If everyone asked EA for refunds on BF4 then gave all of the money to me, I would more than capable of buying anything I could imagine, but you know they are just greedy people...Go figure...

Hey i am STILL having the same problem, after i think two updates so far for BF4, i am still getting crashes once in a while, and worst sometimes is when i aim at somebody or ready to shoot it lags or stutters for a bit.. any help?

Memory leak? Do you mean buffer over run where game code is writing memory address violations?

Here is my fix that worked for me, if you feel it is silly then move on. I had the same crashes as you guys, got tired of not being able to play. I planned a course of action that had worked for me over the years, some of these steps are new because Origin is rather new.
1. I went to the Origin site. right clicked on My BF4 game, I chose check for update (let it finish)
2. Right clicked again, chose (repair install) rebooted.
3. Went to my BF4 install folder, mine is (G:/program Files (x86)/EAGames/Battlefield 4/
4. Clicked on PBsetup.exe/ you may have PBsec.exe. choose update PB, let it finish, reboot.
5. I went into My BF4 game, joined a server, and have been playing for 2 days without incident.
Do I feel lucky...well yaah. Did I have a prior PB violation come up on my screen..NO, am I real good at this game..NO. Can any one of you young guys whoop ole jeep in a firefight..well yaah, 76 here, still playing tho. Do with this info, as you will. See you in game.

well here it is almost the end of Feb. 2014, still buggy and full of unanswered probs.... i am running x-58 mobo, 980x cpu 6gs mem, adaptec card with 4 intel 60 gs in raid, win7-64bit and my game would freeze all times in play, so i read around and found different things, first i updated my vidio card to gtx 770 (3776) my preferrence, not a prob, i updated punkbuster. nothing, directx, nothing really, then i read about, hyper-threading on the cpu, that dice does games but doesn't know comp.'s, and they were rite, i went into bios and disabled it, and my comp would crash only once sometimes twice during my days playing, so i butted my head with my own, and started fine tuning my hardware on the voltage side, raised it only quarter volts only on my cpu, memory and now i have no crashes at all, SO MY PROBLEM WAS HYPER-THREADING ENABLED, LOW VOLTAGE ON MY CPU, AND MEMORY, once i tweaked it, it now acts great!!!!!!!!!

Nice going CH, you did the deed on your own. We need more people like you to step up and methodically think thru these game problems. You see, the fault in games is not always with the game devs, sometimes it's PB or even our own gear settings, like in CH's case. This afternoon I cleared up another problem with BF4 screen going blank in game and looking like the game had locked up, this time I had neglected to put my Antivirus into Game Mode, and when the AV program started updating it's files, My problem started. I then commenced to have a great afternoon enjoying the weekend double points. ]
