Does everything freeze up to where you can't even open Task Manager? If so, you may have a memory leak problem. What OS are you using?
I have had this, how do I fix this? Windows 7 ultimate 64 bits
I doesn't seem to do it now after restarting and applying updates and a few other things I don't recall unfortunately. What it still does do in Windows 8 is Directx errors. That appears to be wide spread across platforms. I had thought it was a conflict in Windows 8 with my old motherboard, but after reading dozens of threads on the subject, it's quite common. I tried running in compatibility mode to no avail.
On my Vista system (dual boot) it never crashes from dx errors or gets memory leaks. Of course when the server crashes it isn't any less frustrating. Here's the thing: my 6970 has obsolete drivers from April(?) because AMD no longer supports Vista. Tonight I'm going to try older drivers (pre-optimized BF4) on Windows 8 to see if the Dx error stops.
Some of the fixes people claim work seem a bit silly. EA/Dice need to address this problem ASAP. BF3 players are also experiencing Dx errors, but again I don't on the Vista machine (haven't tried BF3 on 8).
For your problem, which I assume is memory leak related, do a search for 'battlefield 4 memory leak'.
