Get a 7850. The only card whose bottle neck symptoms wouldn't be worse.

im probably just gonna upgrade my whole system i can just didn't want to spend more then $300 but if my cpu isn't gonna preform well i mind as well go ahead and upgrade everything.

Gigabyte GA-970A-D3P

AMD fx 6350

Gigabyte R9 280X 3gb

corsair cx 600

Exactly for $300 you can get a whole new system more than just a graphic card that will bottleneck your cpu

Okay, so you are having a quad core Athlon, then go with the AMD HD 7870. Yes, it might bottleneck is CPU intensive games but the end result would still be much better than the 7850.

Also in games that are not much CPU bound you can expect very good performance. Games like BF3, BF4 which are mostly GPU bound would run very good with the 7870 Ghz Edition card. So get this card. You would be happy with it.

Also you can do an upgrade within that budget and still enjoy awesome performance.

+ Athlon II x4 760K @ 3.8 Ghz is a beast for budget gaming and would handle the 7870 without much problem.

+ The MSI-A85XA-G43 Board is currently selling as a very good deal, it has 8 SATA 6GB/sec ports, Full ATX Size and a hell lot more features with good VRM if you want to overclock even more.

+ The 7870 Ghz Edition is a beast GPU that can play games at like high-very high-ultra settings at 1080p at playable frame rates without much problem

Hence you might consider this upgrade option. It is great for gaming.

Great bang for buck, honestly you should try to put all of this into a microATX form factor since it easily can be done for not much more money.

No, it would not bottleneck in less CPU intensive games.

And even in games which it would bottleneck, the performance would still be better than what it would have with a 7850.

A 7870 with 10-15% bottleneck is still better performing than the 7850 without bottleneck.

Also the 7870 right not costs just 30 dollars more than the 7850. So, it is the most obvious choice.

And in games like BF3, the GPU is what makes all the difference. The contribution of the CPU is not that much, just because that game is completely GPU bound. So, in games like BF3, even BF4, this build would perform good.

Also Austin Evans (Duncan33303) from YouTube who has been building PC's from quite some years now recommended the Athlon II 750K and 7870 combo and it delivered exceptional performance for the price.

The link to the video is here.. He even played the games himself on the similar build with 750K and R9-270x which is basically the 7870 just overclocked and it performed exceptionally well.

RIGHT...I didnt see his CPU.

In that case just get 7870 or 7950 :)

Yeah the 7870 is the way to go, Whiteboy! 😉

Maybe he recommended the 7950 because Logan from TekSyndicate (razethew0rld) recommended the 7950 with a 750K which is seriously crazy.

That guys makes some videos that are good, some of them are ridiculous, especially when he recommended the 7950 with the 750K it was ridiculous. He is good at case reviews, and specially the episodes that go with the name "The TEK", "INBOX.EXE" and a few more.

But if you are watching TekSyndiate, then you can clearly ignore his builds and hardware recommendations. You can take his benchmarks with a pinch of salt. He is unpredictable, but he is a funny guy.

I think he should get microATX as it is a better idea in general.
