BF42 and ExpPacks

Hi,

I had a strange problem today playing BF42, using ExpPacks. Maybe
nothing wrong at all but I've never noticed a problem until today.

I know exppacks last about 4 minutes in MP, then blow-up if not
detonated, or disappear if killed before detonating them. If not
useable, I know it's best to detonate them when no team-mates are
around, just to get rid of them.

The questions I have are:

1. With FF on, and if I haven't been killed since placing them, do
'expired-exploding' exppacks have the same explosive power as a 'live'
exppack, using the plunger to detonate? If not, how much explosive
power do they have?

2. As I understand it, if I'm killed *before* detonating exppacks,
they will disappear after a very short time (about 20 seconds). Is
this correct?

Today I was killed before getting the chance to detonate 4 placed
exppacks, yet they all blew-up about 4 minutes later, TK'ing a -bunch-
of team-mates, followed by an instant and well-deserved Kick. I can't
figure out how they blew-up.

Pretty sure they do.

That should be what happens, in DC and DCF anyhow.

Strange. In that situation a very quick sayall "Sorry, expiring detpacks"
should save you from a kick unless you killed enough to hit the server
manager's automatic TK kick limit.

<snip>

A bit sad, but I timed the expack and landmine expiry some time ago :)

This was using version 1.2 of the game though, so could conceivably have
changed in a subsequent patch, but this is how it was in 1.2:

Detpacks explode 4 minutes after they have been set, or will disappear
(without exploding) within a few seconds of the engineer dying.

Landmines explode 6 minutes after they have been set, or will disappear
(without exploding) around thirty seconds after the engineer dies.

Cheers

Yup, that's what happened. I had a positive score, then suddenly, a
'minus-8' score. POOF!, auto-kicked from the server. I re-joined and
apologized a bit later.

Me too.... (I have the info in a text-file :). They match the same
numbers you posted.

I'll probably go back to the same server soon (with modified
Stalingrad map), drop some exppacks in a safe place, go get killed
then run back and see if they're still there. If they're not I must
have hit the plunger by accident.

Thanks for the posts and info.

Great, post here when you do. It would be interesting to see if
anything has changed in the last, ooh how long is it since 1.2?

Cheers
