I'm not sure if there's a technical term for what's going on with my system, so I wasn't really that good at going through the threads. Here's the gist of my problem.

I just got a new system (spec details below). When I'm watching videos with Realplayer or Windows Media after a while the video portion gets scrambled like I'm watching some encrypted message. The rest of the desktop is fine, just the video display portion (was hoping to attach a camera picture later). I'm actually fine when I'm playing games like Mass Effect, Never Winter Nights 2, World of Warcraft, the only game I'm having trouble with is Half-Life 2 in which it does the same as the video. If I don't shut down the machine within 20-30 seconds, the whole system beeps a few times then freezes....no BSOD or anything, just freezes. I've contacted the BFG support but they have yet to respond to my email (will call them later).

Anyone know what's going on here?

Mobo: Asus P5N-T
RAM: 2GB Corsair
Video: BFG GeForce 9800 GT
PSU: Corsair TX750W
External Devices: 3 HDD (2 IDE & 1 ATA), 1 DVD
KB: G15 Logitech
Mouse: MX1000

Hope that's enough information for people.

Called the BFG support, was placed on hold for 30 minutes then accidentally hung up on.......called back and was placed on hold for 60 minutes and finally a tech representative talked to me. I gave my story, and he was unable to give an answer so he said go speak with a customer representative to RMA the card. So the solution is RMA the card and I still don't know what the problem is. Is it really a faulty card?.........geeeze.

Another new piece of information.
I just borrowed a BFG OCX 260 and installed it in the place of the 9800 GT. Same problem, I'm now wondering if this is a video card problem or something else that's related to my system.

Such things are more likely to be driver related. Remove old driver, reboot, run driver sweeper, then install new driver.

Oh yes, I'm running XP, not sure those Vista drivers are good for me.

Also did some digging and found that my IRQ 16
IRQ 16 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 OK
IRQ 16 Marvell 61xx Marvell RAID Controller OK
are shared, not sure if it's good or not.

I also did some camera shots of my screen when it starts dying.

I believe your problem was with the card, and that it has bad ram.
I bet if u loaded cod4, crysis or any other intense game you would get the same issue.
use rivatuner and watch the temps.

Even try running wow in 4x AA and all gfx maxed.
my 8800 had the same problem.

Call the store you bought it from, and see if it is under warranty still since they can replace it on the spot, or with an equivalent one of greater value if the 9800 is not in stock. Otherwise RMA is the way to go.
