Hello, I have a OutBack Guidance S3 GPS system for farming that I corrupted the bios on trying to update it. It runs Windows XP embedded and their is zero support for the S3 systems anymore. I have an identical one that works, how can I copy the bios from the working on to the old one. The only way I can communicate through it is with serial port. Keep in mind, it has a complete custom motherboard that I don’t have access to any parts for and no information for on the internet. I would just re flash the bios chip with the original BIOS, but that file is no where in existence since the company stopped supporting it many years ago. Any help would be great!!!

Solution
Well, before messing with BIOS I would check everything else. I had an $8500 old embedded aircraft system (dx4 old) that only needed 4 new capacitors on the PSU.
Not familiar with your specific device, but cloning bios on embedded systems may put you in trouble with the software (it might have license keys or serials in there too).
Otherwise, you can always try manufacturers' update software and look for a "backup" option, then use the same to restore. Alternatively, you can use an external tool.

Thank you, I’m not sure what to do at this point. The device is responsive to nothing, it doesn’t recognize the compact flash card in it anymore, the one USB port does nothing and when Turing it on, the light just flashes orange and the screen does nothing. I think the bios was over written when I tried updating it because it’s basically brain dead. I’m going to get in contact with the company and see if they have any old files on hand or any info about them, most likely not but these machines are very expensive and not made anymore.

Did you try swapping the CF between the working one and this one?
