When i turned the computer on yesterday I got a message saying "BIOS is updating. do not shut down or reset the system to prevent system boot failure". I left the PC on and it stayed like this for 3 hours. I have not installed or downloaded anything in the last few days especially nothing to do with the BIOS. The last time I used my computer nothing weird happened and it shut down normally.

After receiving this message, I waited a good 2 hours before I then decided to turn it off and on again (I understand the risks of doing this) and it did not display this message, and merely took me to my usual log in page.

I then thought I would download my BIOS to support my motherboard - Sabertooth Z97 Mark 1 - from he ASUS website. Whilst I was on the website, I came across a page that said to check if my motherboard will allow a EZ update with the AI Suite 3. I did this and followed the instructions and it led to saying I didn't need to update my BIOS. I think checked the command prompt using 'msinfo32' to see what BIOS I had - this was the BIOS 2401 - 04/24/2015. So clearly nothing has updated. I turned the PC off and left it - and turned it on this morning and now the fans come on but it doesnt show anything on the screen.

Is there a reason I am getting the BIOS message when I turn on the computer?

I have tried looking at options of resetting the BIOS via the jumper or the CMOS battery - would this be a good option??

Any advice would be very helpful!!

Thank you

I would definitely follow the steps listed in your motherboard manual for clearing the CMOS (RTC) and then set Optimized Defaults and reboot.
Then you can re-enter any BIOS settings you like and save and reboot again.
Hopefully that will get rid of that message.
Also if you have EZ Update on your PC, I would disable or uninstall it just to be sure it is Not the reason for that message.

I tried doing this using the RTC jumper switch i believe its called, by following the mobo manual (sorry not that technical). Switched the and that seemed to work fine. Its been running fine since then but the clock was 5 minutes slow (dont think i changed it in the bios). Was running fine for 3 days. Was a bit slow to boot though.

I turned it on tonight and it wouldn't boot, the cpu fans are on, as well as the psu fans, although the psu seems to be a bit quieter than normal?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks for your time!!
