I recently upgraded my processor from a Phenom II X3 to a Phenom II X6. Now it's not currently supported by my motherboard, but there's a beta version of BIOS that recognizes it. Anyway, when I installed the processor I hadn't realized this but the computer booted up anyway. The system just didn't recognize the processor correctly. So I tried to update my BIOS with @BIOS and it basically destroyed my BIOS.

So I figure ok, I'll just change some settings in the BIOS and go back to an older configuration or QFLASH the bios from a USB stick. Nope, won't work because the GIGABYTE screen that comes up at boot is now frozen at boot, or restarts continually. So I figure, fine I'll clear the CMOS. Nope, I take out the battery and replace it after a few minutes. Nothing happens. I touch the two pins labeled CLR CMOS together with a screwdriver, and while some of the time it does nothing, the other part of the time the result from that is a checksum error that prompts me to choose either 1)DEFAULT or 2) Last Known Healthy Startup. Regardless of which one I choose the computer then restarts and I'm back to the frozen Gigabyte screen that either stays frozen or restarts continually to no avail. Does anyone on here have some suggestions, because at this point I'm extremely frustrated and out of ideas. I've contacted Gigabyte, but I'm sure nothing will come of that. I would really appreciate some help before I pull my hair out here.

Thanks,
Atlas

I solved this issue. It's tough to even describe this, but after removing the battery for the hundredth time it finally decided to work at clearing the CMOS. Then when I tried to QFLASH the bios it wouldn't work with the file on the USB stick. Why? Because when I first ordered this board from TigerDirect I had to RMA the first one they sent me because it was dead on arrival. The one they sent me in return is actually a different model. Similar in it's form factor and capabilities, but a different model! After searching through Gigabyte's site and trying to match the board I finally came across the right one and got the right updated BIOS. I then was able to QFLASH the proper BIOS on there and it now recognizes the Phenom II X6. Talk about Thanksgiving Day miracle right? Anyway, problem solved so take it easy and Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Cheers,
