I have a Asus Z170i Pro Gaming motherboard that seems to be otherwise completely functional, but it only retains BIOS settings as long as it's connected to a power source. If I unplug the power or switch off the power supply, all my BIOS settings are lost.
I tried another CMOS coin battery from another ITX motherboard I had, but that wasn't successful. I've also made sure the clear CMOS header wasnt connected.
At this point I only have three guesses:
Edit: also tried updating BIOS and resetting BIOS settings.

At this point I only have three guesses:
- both batteries were too low of a voltage
- the first battery was dead, and the second battery has swapped red/black wires causing issues (its the coin battery connected to the motherboard via the twisted black/red wires)
- physical defect in motherboard
Edit: also tried updating BIOS and resetting BIOS settings.
