Upgrading CPU to Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 @2.40 GHz
(research shows the Q6600 is compatible)
Motherboard barcode BQOT749000PG AA D75595-202
I can't find out if the bios NEEDS to be updated BEFORE the swap. I'd assume so since it's older hardware(mb/cpu). All the research I can't confirm if it needs upgraded. Intel website explains how, but not IF it's needed. I've come down to it determining a cross reference of the numbers on the mobo after AA. Which is where I come to a dead end. Please help?
Also, if it is needing an update could you explain the best option or any tips/pointers on how to update? Intel displays 4 options on how and "only one needs to be done". But which one is easiest? I'd rather not brick this project, since it's my brothers computer.
(My brothers computer just needs to breath easier and not trying to upgrade everything...)
