Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me out.

I'm getting a cpu for my pc in a few days and i was looking around what i might need to run it properly, now there are 2 versions listed on the Gigabyte website, one needing bios version F3 and the other F6.
As i dont precisely know which version of the cpu i'm getting, my question is: If i where to update my bios to version F6, and it turned out i needed F3 will the cpu still work or do i need the exact bios version stated?

It might be a stupid question idk, im quite new to doing stuff to my pc :p

Thanks in advance !!

The reason i asked is that the cpu im getting isnt new, it's used and probably wont come in the original box.
Is the exact version of the cpu written on the cpu itself?
If thats the case then forget i ever asked anything haha

The CPU doesnt tell you anything (about what BIOS update it needs) for it to work.

The mobo site does. On some mobos there's a sticker that shows you what BIOS is on it when you get/buy it (ie: ASUS)

BUT, I have no idea what other mobo brands have or use. To tell you what BIOS is on it when you buy it

No no i know what bios i'm running, and i also checked the mobo site to see which bios version i need, but there are multiple versions of my cpu stated there; being
Phenom II X4 945 C2 95W(bios version F3 as stated in mobo website)
Phenom II X4 945 C3 95W(bios version F6 as stated in mobo website)

As i dont know which cpu im getting, i need to know if for example the c2 will run on the F6 bios version.

As its a newer version of the bios with an older cpu.

Thank you for the reply!

The problem is that its a used cpu so i'm not getting it in the original box :p hence im trying to figure out if they will both just work with the F6 bios version.
Ill get the cpu tomorrow so hopefully theres a reference somewhere on the cpu itself then i will know for sure what bios ill need.
