Black screen after installing 2 x 8gb hyper x fury 1866mhz sticks of ram into my gigabyte ga-78lmt-s2 . I changed the clock speed in the bios from 1333 to 1866 but it made no difference. The old 2 sticks of 4gb still work fine
I cannot find a 16GB kit on the QVL list anf no listing for Hyper x fury, so they may or may not work.
Return the kit as I don't think they are compatible.
Here is the QVL for your MB download page: http://www.gigabyte.com.au/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4643#
Go to the Memory support List.
Are the two DIMMs of Hyper x fury from the same kit?
Have you checked that the kit has been listed and tested in accordance with the MB manufacturers QVL list?
Sometimes a Bios update is required.

HI ! Yeah I bought the hyper x fury brand new yesterday as one whole kit. like this (https://www.amazon.co.uk/HyperX-FURY-16-Memory-Module/dp/B00J8E8ZOC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1467470601&sr=8-2&keywords=hyperx+fury).
I'm about to update my bios to see if that will help but I'm not holding my breath because the last bios update was in 2011

Crucial say that this ram (http://uk.crucial.com/gbr/en/ga-78lmt-s2p/CT7372520) is compatible with my motherboard. But I fail to see how this ram is different to the hyper x fury that I have now. Could you suggest why this ram is compatible, but the hyper x fury is not?

Crucial may say it is compatible but not necessarily tested by the MB manufacturer.
Best to select a kit from the QVL list I provided.
