Hi,

Not sure if it is the right forum topic but here goes....

Even on a fresh install of Windows, from a cold boot, bios displays without issue, but once windows load I am left with either a black screen or a black screen with a cursor. Forcing a restart the issue is gone but every time I do a cold boot the same issue appears.

I have checked cables tried different ones and tried with different inputs but still no dice. All drivers up to date, no integrity violations, all apps are official, just can't see any cause. All windows updated are installed including the latest preview which I know is a big one, unless that is the cause?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

This should be off in Win 11 but worth a look:

Search for control panel
choose Power Options
Click Choose what the power button does

If Turn on fast startup is ticked, you don't want it to be.
If its on, choose Change settings that are currently unavailable. This will let you untick Turn on Fast Startup
save changes.

If its off, its strange that a restart fixes the problem. As there shouldn't be any difference between a restart and a Cold start, with fast startup off.

what are specs of the PC?

Try starting pc with as few unessential things plugged in. If you just loading to a desktop with no wallpaper, its possible PC waiting on something to respond. This can happen if the thing isn't answering right away at start, can happen to old things as they start to die.
