My first thougths. But then, www.worldofwarcraft.com brought me back to the sad reality. I had second thoughts, but now I'm glad I left WoW at Cata.

Wow, I have quit since about 3 months after Cata. I miss all the people on their, late night raids, pvp all drunk or something but after like 2 years almost, feels like a life time, but I cant believe they still make more. Makes me want to get back to it but I won't give in to the power of WoW sucking you back in.

Ultima Online had a similar expansion called Samurai Empire. Wasn't panda's but same motif. It didn't help stave of the hemorrhaging on subs at all.

I quit WoW about 4 months before Cat came out and never looked back. It really burned me out on the whole genre.

Im not gonna bash WoW. It just hasnt been my cup of tea since just a month or two after BC. I havent played it in years now. But it looks like its still going in the same direction it was going when i first quit. I want to thank them for the memories though. Getting to do the 40 man content makes me feel privileged. Even the things i hated, like rep/resist gear grinding I know look back on fondly. Im like an old man with hundreds of stories about a time long past. I got a lot of good friends, and a lot of funny memories and videos. So thank you Blizz.

So, this subscription based no lore game that Activision controls with yearly expansions, whats it called again?

[citation][nom]magnetite[/nom]Blizzard is obsessed with money and will do anything to make more of it.I'm glad I quit WoW in December when Cata was launched.[/citation]

It's wrong to make money? No wonder the world is so screwed up. The point is that a company can't make money without providing something of value to the buyer. It's a free choice and no matter how much people whine or complain, the ultimate judge of whether something is worth it or not is if people put up the money. If companies could get away with just putting up crap to sell, then I'd make my own company selling you subscription rights to view my fine and informed posts. Only $10 per year and you'll be able to view my writings an unlimited number of times! Do you think I'll be as successful as Blizzard with my business model?

With millions of subscribers, it's nearly impossible to appeal to everyone. Dumbing the system down appeals to casual gamers but alienates the hardcore fans. It's tough to know where to draw the line.

Here's the problem, if the casuals don't care about the story you create, it doesn't matter if they are the "majority".

You are right, there is nothing wrong with making money. We ALL want to make money. And I want every company to be successful and make money. The issue is in order to make the most money over the longest period of time, you have to do it smart.

Yes, WoW still has 11.1 million subs (until the next conference call is made in a few weeks), however, a good indicator of the success of a franchise is merchandise. The comics have ben cancelled due to low sales as has the magazine. The Shattering pre-Cataclysm novel had low sales. These are indicators that the long time Warcraft fan is feeling disenfranchised and is leaving.

The so called "casuals" who want everything to be easy, will they be the long term customer? Will they continue paying their monthly sub once they finish an instance 2 weeks after release (if it's made that easy, which is the road Blizz is going down) and pay for 4-6 months until the next content patch? Doubtful. If they were that type of fan who cared about the story and wanted to be on the game no matter what, they wouldn't be "casual". When you consider how many subs were lost the first six months of a new expansion, and the decline of outside franchise merchandise, it seems the current model for Warcraft isn't the best it could be.

Dam. Why is it that WOW gets bashed so much on this forum, seems like its kind of a trend. I watched the video and I think it looks good even though I don't play WOW, cause I was just never into those types of games. I prefer strategy like Starcraft.

Sorry but I don't get it.... so many people think WoW is crap and dont care about it and stopped playing when cata came out or 3 months after cata came out or so on and so on...

Tell me if thnk WoW is so crap and don't care about it so much then wtf do you waste your time reading about it and then waste more of your time to talk aobut it just to say how much you don't care about it?

Do you not care about Justin Beiber so you spend all day listening to his songs?

You don't care about Fords so you own a Falcon?

Do you really not care about Apple and think they are so crap so that you have an iPhone and iPad?

Couldn't care less about the internet and don't know why people even bother with so you spend most of your day on it?

You don't care aobut WoW so you spend your time reading about it and whining about it? (oh ooops thats what this is about :|)

Really for people that say tyou don't care so much about it you obviously do.

Oh hang on i'll have to finish this post later cos I don't care about birds and penguins so I better go fly over to New Zeland and spend the time to help them clean them all up :|

Though I guess maybe i'm just strange since when I don't care about something thats just it "I don't care" about it so I don't bother devoting any of my time to since (hey I don't care about it!) and want to spend time on things I do care about rather then mindlessly wasting it on something which I don't.......

Pandas? WTF? Blizz stop catering to 10-year olds, you have a lot of 20-year olds and above who play the game. We are the ones with money to spend because we have day jobs. If you start catering to the kiddies, you will lose your base.

Share price was at a high during Burning Crusade, is now half that value and is now back to before Vanilla WoW came out.

I will play it if Jack Black plays the voice of my kung fu panda...really lame and all there doin just like other MMO's is tryin to compete with Star Wars the Old Republic. I played WoW from Vamilla to Cata quit 9 months ago. Blizzard doesnt stand a chance

Really people are just too retarded.I subscribe to unwanted's post, they say they quit wow before cata, 3 months after cata, 6 months and they don't care but they read and post about wow.

The fact is that people do not realize how much people changed this last 7 years, since wow released.

In the beginning people were so damn happy to play content everything was new,it was great just to play in dungeons like upper spire or in Stratholme. Now they got bored when they see dungeons like deadmines HC or shadowfang HC, even though the content is CHALLENGING,you had in start of cataclysm to cc every group of monsters and know tactics in every 5-man dungeon boss.

Really now , in what expansion did you need to know tacts at every single boss in a 5- man dungeon and cc every group of 4-5 monsters?

In my opinion Cataclysm is a bigggg fuc%#ng improvement over vanilla wow or any other previous expansion.

People don't realize that because they changed. In vanilla bosses in raids were hard because there weren't any sites to read tactics or abilities on it.Pvp was hard cause there weren't elitejersk or arenajunkies , so people had chosen their talents by copying other people and not really understanding at start why they do what they did.

The reallity is that the first game and first expansion, lack so many things and don't have so many features that you may pull your hair off, when you try ro re-play them. Also you notice it takes so much time, running , crafting to do every little thing that is ANNOYING like hell.

The pve part of vanilla and bc is very easy for most of elite raiders that have at least 4/8 HC on ds now in 4.3.Actually it is so easy that is pathetic. The annoying part is the grind one and if people fail on those raids, it is because of lack of dps, which actually is annoying, when you know you do everything right but you fail because you need to spend 1-2 months on grinding just to beat illidan.

The pvp part of vanilla and bc, well this is the fun part. Most people who have a team over at least 1800 rating in 4.3 will find that those arena and bg games in vanilla and bc are very very very unbalanced.
The fact is that theorycrafting and using spells,cd ,rotation,cc has evolved so much that vanilla and bc may seem impossible to play in arena, even in 3v3, where some comps seem GODLIKE, and having specific comps in bg is a 95% win.

I have nothing more to say, just play vanilla and BC on a private server, and if you still like it that is probably because you are nostalgic over those times, but look into your heart and you will see how under refined and under development those games were.
