oh the RAGE!!!! if it was for any other reason i'd be fine, i mean, its to be expected by now. but to hear that its cause of BATTLE NET!!!!! the thing they are FORCING us to all use for no good reason!!! just let me LAN FFS!!!1!!! THEN I DON'T NEED YOUR STUPID PROFIT MAKING AD RIDDLED BATTLE NET!!!1@#!@#!23!2#!

ignorant rage from too many posters here that don't know jack about how to code a game properly so it's lag is unnoticeable over the internet, that or just pissed they wont be able to play over illegal lan networks like garena.

Blizzard's decision is admirable, last thing they want is to create a game that doesn't live up to standard.

Wait another year? sure, I will wait lol. && Yea... LAN play would be awesome. no doubt.

I already pre-purchased it for my 9 year old son last year. I hope he gets to play it before he goes off to University... or he's my age... or I'm dead...

lmao

lol blizzard is pathetic.. Im actually getting too old now.. Im married now ffs was expecting this game sooo long ago.. gahhhhhhhhhhhhHhhhhh useless bastards!

Cmon Blizzard, give us the real reason you're waiting to release so late. Not some poor excuse that's it's going to take you months just to upgrade a network. Does it really take that long to upgrade some hardware and a few lines of code? Lord knows Activision has given you plenty of money to do it. Sorry for the ill remarks, I just can't stand liars.

who gives a toss about LAN. you CAN play lan BTW you just need to log though battlenet.. just like say using a "steam" game on lan.. so there IS lan play.. but why would you lan anyway.

Hope that it is worth waiting (except the excluded LAN support). They should have done the other way around, develop Bnet first then do Starcraft 2. But then again, this have to do with marketing strategies to create a hype before the game is released.

NOOOOOO!

Just release the damn thing and fix the servers later in its life. Or at least send that Tipoo guy an advanced copy, he's awesome.

Because thats he only way to play Starcraft.

[citation][nom]blarneypete[/nom]Yawn.. Is anybody surprised? As for me, I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for Duke Nukem Forever![/citation]

I'm not surprised, after diablo II and warcraft III I have never expected a game from blizzard to release "on time" or more appropriately "on the stated schedule". But I am glad that there are some game companies who are still willing to face the wrath of fans to make a better game... otherwise they'd have no fans. I just hope they don't water down the graphics of these games too much to give it blockbuster sales. From what i've seen thus far of D3 and SC2 I'm pretty satisfied and knowing that they're good developers the games should run efficiently enough not to bog down mid range systems.

Anywho, back to the point. Does anyone else notice the irony of Duke Nukem Forever, DNF... as in "Did Not Finish". I noticed it years ago but decided to keep my hole shut as not to jinx the game, but I guess someone else had to be thinking it out there somewhere too. I wish if nothing else that good unfinished games, will be leaked almost complete or open sourced and released to the general public where it can be finsihed, if not by the original developers but by fans who should get it pretty darn close to what the final product SHOULD have been.

look i'm rambling again, espresso...

I'm a professional game developer, I've made a networking system and your right, it is hard to counter the lag of the internet, on the other hand, HOW OLD is battle net now? and the net is only getting BETTER, meaning LESS lag, so if it worked before, why not now??? and we are not all pissy about not being able to play the game illegally!! I am so sick of ppl thinking that we complain about DRM because we wanna play it illegally, quite the opposite! we complain about DRM because we wanna play it LEGALLY without hindrance after paying them money!!!

LAN support is needed for legal play. every time you go to a proper LAN, the chances are its been organised at a church hall, or a community hall or some place where there is lots of space, and nothing to be broken or stolen. AND THESE PLACES DON'T HAVE NET!! sure you could get wireless net, but the ridiculous costs of downloads mean that even for gaming, the cost of the net is a factor, AND WE SHOULDN'T NEED THE NET!

the problem is they a turning the Internet into an EVEN MORE necessary utility than electricity. I mean, you can use a computer on a UPS or a laptop on battery without the need for electricity, but u'd STILL need the net to play. the problem is, the Internet is not even nearly as mature utility as electricity. Imagine when everywhere there is a power point, there is a net connection, which costs a couple of cents per GB, THEN the internet will be as much a Utility as the other Utilities, and then programs relying on the net will be perfectly fine, but until then, its not fine for something to rely on the net unless it absolutely has to.

great thanks blizzard for the delay of SC2. Well we still have the BETA, what it's still not out yet. But you promised we could test it in May 2009. What the you don't think that'll be possible? When is the game coming out? Sometime in the first half of next year. You mean sometime in 2010? Didn't someone say by 2010, we'll have flying cars and that crazy type of $hit, but we can't have SC2 till then. man...

OH Well that still gives me time to upgrade my system to a quad-core in the next 3 monthes.

I hate Blizzard, the issue is they are able to dodge the bullet for being unresponsive and downright unprofessional with their strong appeal to the masses. I was very disappointed with the first look of SC2... I think the company we saw a decade ago is gone... now its just about rehashing revolutionary ideas... (which is a great money maker) think about what they are doing... 10 years to build one game.. and then release 3 separate iterations to gouge the market... & no lan whoever is their marketing strategist is pretty good.

I hope SC2 flops in sales... but it will do well i think... some people were saying it would save the PC game industry
