@Bamslang

I agree, great post. Not sure about WoW helping their other game's developpement though. In opinion, it's slowing it. It's been 9 years since Diablo 2 released and 11 years since Starcraft. Not mensionning clues indicating Diablo 3 won't come out before 2011. Please, don't say WoW is helping anything there. But yeah, as you say, if it's earning them money, why would they stop?

@MitchMeister-

Adressing on people with the kind of conclusion your post have is exactly why there's any hating out there. As I stated, if some complain, it' probably because they see how the beast that WoW is is affecting, in what looks like to be alot of negative ways, the other Blizzard's IPs. If some are nahive enough to complain for the purpose of trying to change other people's mind, it's their problems, but some just talk to discuss with others with the same view, or people that can at least comprehend their points without turning into a fanboyism rage. I have no difficulty understanding what can be said positively about the game, I don't see why someone else shouldn't be able to understand what can also be said negatively about it.

The problem is in how people express their opinion. They tend to do so in a very condecending and insulting way. If I stated that the game you liked is only played by dimwitted fairies, and that the game is worth less than x... how would you feel? This is why people get so defensive. I am not saying that you were at fault: just stop blaming it on "fanboy rage" Also: why wouldn't bliz use the money from WoW to front their other projects? Let us say that they have 5,000,000 USA/CAN subscriptions.. multiplied by just one month at $15/mo. This would be 75,000,000. Enough to fund a few games at one time I would say.

Yeah, you're are absolutly right about people and their condecendance way of telling things. Directly insulting people playing the game is pretty stupid. However, I wouldn't feel hurted in anyway if someone would say the games I play are utter crap, it's just their opinions. It's their right. It's just that it's preferable to back such sayings by some arguments, valid or not, so you don't look like an hater. I blame it on fanboy rage when someone bring arguments and opinions of his or her in a civilized matter, and that someone respond to it without any real arguments and a flaming touch. And there's plenty of that.

Thing is I thought this was limited to WoW, but there's fanboys for everything, even for bananas it seems. It's just more visible with WoW cause of it's popularity.

Also, I don't think anybody said Blizzard weren't using their income money from WoW subscriptions to finance their others games. I myself just implied that this money is far from a necessity for those game's development, and that WoW is slowing it more than anything. There's plenty of big studios developping more than one game at a time without the need of an MMO to fincance it. And they deliver. I'm not saying rushing a game is a good thing, but 10 years would have been more tha enough to develop two almost perfect games if it weren't of WoW and it's expensions.

I'm not saying they are evil for focusing on WoW (even if I think it), I'm just saying thinking WoW is helping anything else than itself is a complete illusion.
