I am planing to upgrade this system, this system is aprox 5 years old, with upgraded video, and ram. Even these need replacing at this point, but to the point.. I am on some what of a stretched budget, I plan to upgrade it for intense photoshop use, but also do a little gaming on the side. Im in debate over spending a little extra and getting an AMD Athlon 64 3000+ or getting the budget buy with a standard P4 @ 2.8ghz. Which of these would you guys reccomend?

I personally would go with the Athlon and not just because I am die hard AMD. I just think it would future proof yourself a bit better with the 64 bit. However the P-4 would probably give you better performance with the photo editing.

All right, thanks guys. What are your views on the MSI K8N Neo4/ Platinum for the Athlon 3000+? Overkill?

If upgrading video is SOP, you will want a PCI-exp setup.
I would only recommend a P4c 2.8, but they only come in s478 flavour so only agp.

When it runs well, it's great. Problem is it may take a few rmas to get a board that runs.
I would rather get one of the Abit boards. Come to think of it, I just did. It's great.
