Blue Lasers Increase Storage Capacity??

This is in inquiry to a June 18th post on Tom's tech news. I am curious as to if these new lasers will soon take to cd roms and the like..?? and if so how soon can we expect to see them... if not is there another hardware storage solution on the horizon with the versatility of the cd rom and keeping the prices as low as they have been in contrast to the dvdram..?? also is ther emedia in development for the new lasers..?? Is current media compatable(akin to drivespace for instance... although the read sectors would be constant instead of flexible with the size and density of the file) to handle the read/write changes..??
