Question Blue screen after CPU installation

I have a MSI Z87 G45 motherboard. I have previously updated the BIOS so I am fairly certain I am on the latest version and I have installed an i7 4790k CPU. However everytime I start up my pc it gets past the BIOS screen but blue screens when loading windows. I get an error message saying windows will restart but my computer just hangs and I have to force a shutdown.

Any ideas what could be the issue?

Which windows ? They might not be recognizing CPU properly, see if it would work in safe mode.

I got it working. Turns out I just had to clear cmos. Thanks for the help though.
