Question Blue Screen after upgrading the Ram from 16 GB (2 x 8GB) to 32 GB(2 x 16)

Hi all, I am new here.
Here is my dilemma. Have upgraded my Lenovo Legion Y540 from stock 16 GB Ram to 32 GB. Both stock and new rams are identical to each pair. See the pictures. The upgrade is causing blue screen, but it is very unpredictable when it comes, sometimes during Stand by, other times during active work. Please advise on what is to be done as I want this machine to be faster.

Both pictures appear to be the same and show 16GB SODIMMs. Perhaps I'm missing something?

Dual rank memory modules tend to have memory chips in both sides and can place additional loading on the memory bus.

Some laptops can be fussy about dual rank memory.

please check the pictures again, there are 2 pictures of the old ram and 1 of the new.
old - 2 piece x 8gb
new - 2 piece x 16 gb

Unless both SODIMMs were bought as a matched pair, you cannot guarantee they'll come from the same production batch with the same memory chips. Run Thaiphoon Burner to get some idea about how close they are to each other.

I've just noticed the photos contain multiple images if you scroll right. Missed them on my phone's screen.

Unless your laptop BIOS allows you to manually program Primary and Secondary memory timings (unlikely) there's not much you can do to tweak anything.

You're at the mercy of the automatic settings derived from SPD, which may differ between the two SODIMMs.

The BIOS picks a set of timings which may come from just one SODIMM or a strange mixture of settings from both modules.

You can compare the actual settings chosen by the BIOS with the manufacturer's SPD settings in each module with a utility program. I use Aida64.

In a desktop PC with a configurable BIOS, I'd attempt to change the CAS (CL) timing from 19T to 21T to relax the timing.

If your laptop BIOS does not allow you to change any of the individual memory timings, or reduce the memory clock frequency from 1,333MHz (2,666MT/s) there's very little we can do with the new RAM.

I have looked into BIOS, there is nothing in it, very very limited options. So, as the conclusion, is the bluescreen the result if timings even tho they happen in randome order? If yes, buying another pair of ram ( but a pair not 2 separate pieces) would solve the dilema?

Check out the Crucial, Kingston and other web sites to see if they recommend specific sets of RAM for your laptop.

I have just checked the web, strangest thing ever. Crucial recommends either 8 or 16 GB pack but 2666 and if I want more, like I have, 2 x 16 GB 3200. Their recommended speed is higher, not lower
