Hi,

so I am having this annoying Blue Screen when playing games. I've tried pretty much everything from reinstalling Windows 10 to Updating every single Driver possible. I also asked this in the Microsoft Community Forum, but nobody could help there.

Here is a dmp File for more information on the Blue Screen:

Most of the time it's a DPC_Watchdog_Violation error code.

I ran the dump and not certian but I think the troublemaker driver might be the LGBusEnum.sys.

Is that a Logitech gaming-related driver? You said BSODs happen when playing games makes it a bit more likely. Maybe it has a bug or maybe it conflicts with another driver or service.

Yes, I think that driver comes with the Logitech Gaming Software. I'll do some testing tomorrow.

Everything back to normal, RAM & CPU

Since we are getting memory crashes here this might very well be RAM related. I just checked the tech specs of the RAM on corsairs webpage and the performance profile is running xmp 2.0

Now i know for certain that I have xmp 1 enabled and not xmp 2. Do you think that could be the cause of the blue screens?

it could just be that you need a tiny bit more voltage on the memory controller, but I want to be sure that it can run at stock without Bluescreening first, then it's just a matter of dialling in an OC properly.

That's it I think. I disabled every OC and played for 1-2 hours without any Blue Screen. As you already said, the RAM probably needs slightly more voltage to operate at 3200 Mhz. Should I try out XMP 2.0 or set the voltage manually? This is the RAM:

just a thought have you try to disable windows fast boot then done a restart from power menu i know that can cause random problems with drivers

Yeah, so far I've pretty much tried everything windows related that google has to offer.

So after a lot of testing I am very certain this issue I am having is OC related. Without overclocking CPU and RAM I get no crash at all. I really didn't think this was an OC issue, since everything was running fine for at least two weeks. Thank you very much guys for your help.

I'll have to see what I can do with the OC. The XMP profile doesn't really work. Neither XMP 1 or XMP 2 are stable and even after going from 1.35 DRAM Voltage to 1.39 DRAM Voltage it wasn't stable either. Maybe I have some wrong settings for the CPU overclock as well. I am not sure. Will have to do some more testing.

If the dump had shown the system details I might have noticed CPU was overclocked. But it didn't include anything. All it did was spike my question about bios version. No system info is normally a sign PC has an old bios. If it had shown anything there I would have also not needed to ask last question below.

Its possible the new BIOS could help as it does mention Improved ram compatibility - it generally helps to update bios on newer boards, not so necessary on old ones. https://www.asus.com/au/Motherboards/ROG-MAXIMUS-XI-HERO-WI-FI/HelpDesk_BIOS/

Is the ram installed on the Asus ram list that works with board, as that is one reason the 2 xmp settings might not work. https://www.asus.com/au/Motherboards/ROG-MAXIMUS-XI-HERO-WI-FI/HelpDesk_QVL/

I guess I can try to make a BIOS update then. The RAM is not listed in the supported Memory List from the Mainboard (highest is C15, I have C16). Does that mean overclocking the RAM doesn't work in general with the board, or is it just that the XMP profile is not supported?

Update: I did some testing with prime95 to see if the overclock is stable and seems like the CPU didn't get enough voltage to run at 5Ghz in demanding processes. I upped the voltage quite a lot up to 1.35V but it still chrashed. I didn't want to insrease further, because temps would get to hot then, so I went from 5Ghz to 4.9Ghz on all cores with 1.3V which is stable. So I guess the memory was fine after all. This is my mistake. Sorry for the trouble, but also thanks for the help. Thinking that the OC would be a problem would be the last thing I was expecting...
