Bluetooth Headset problem

So, I have this bluetooth headset that has an inbuilt mic.
The problem I have is that when I want to record using my mic, the headset doesn't work so I can't listen to anything at the same time as speaking into my microphone.
When I do stop recording, after a few seconds I can start hearing through my headset.
So for example, when I use skype, I can speak into the mic, but I cant hear anything, like the other person or playing music in the background.
Looked for this problem all over the internet (probably not hard enough) but couldn't find a solution.
Its really hard to explain this problem so bear with me .

Kk figured out if I put it on hands-free, I can talk aswell as listen at the same time. But with hands-free mode, very "statiky" and not very good quality. Is there a way to trick the headset to put hands-free mode on but have the normal listening quality?
